i wasn't aware that hard back editions had been released.  i now have a conundrum, do i keep the original comics or buy the hard back editions?  do the hard backs come with 2112 and issue 0?

I think Next Men is a comic that will do well. There are probably tons of fans that have read the original run in the last 10-15 years now and it may have a built in following. I'm even hoping that it may bust through that 50 issue mark some and we end up with some bonus adventures. Anyway it's pretty exciting.

Lee, the HC's do not come with 2112. Issue 0 is included.

Wallace, the second volume is larger than the first. While it doesn't make for a uniform look on a bookshelf, Vol. 2 is very impressive looking. It is about the size of an Absolute volume.

I had not noticed that! Odd, since 2112 is in the first phonebook.

I thought it was odd as well, but I was hoping IDW would put out a deluxe oversized 2112 HC. My old HC is getting worn out.

I previously asked about the 2112 hardcover (both the original and the
possible IDW Premiere Edition), but got no response from the
membership. I was eventually able to find one guy selling his Dark
Horse 2112 hardcover, but the price wasn't right. Hopefully, IDW will
put one out at some point. Maybe it will come after the new JBNM
issues have been collected.

-----------

One thing that I wasn't too impressed with in the first phonebook was the printing of 2112.   Were they from a different source than the pages of the Next Men book itself?
To me it looked like they just scanned in the pages from a printed version, (so all the pages are in grayscale) whereas the rest of the phonebook, with the odd exception within the first six issues, was in clean black and white.

Wallace, I don't know what the print run was on the HC but I know it was limited. I've seen them recently range for over 100 bucks. I was lucky enough to score one when they came out.

Chris, I don't think Dark Horse was able to
provide IDW with the B&W artwork for 2112.

I didn't know there was a 2112 hardcover - I'm jealous, Paul!  I collect JB trades in general and have been feeling pretty smug up until now about my "Next Men" collection.

Seems like it would be tough to make a new color hardback without the original artwork.  I feel lucky just to have a paperback - I never see these around.

Tim, not to rub it in. But the book came with JB's autograph on a Next Men image. I believe the image was only in the HC. Here is what the book looked like.
