I received the first volume of the JBNM Premiere editions from Barnes and Noble earlier today. It looks really good.

IDW usually offers a variant cover for every ten books ordered of a comic. I go to my LCS and ask for that variant. This way he will buy at least ten copies of the book. He had a complete sell-out on Assignment Earth, Angel and McCoy (so far) because of this. Fans didn't know what JB was up to and saw those comics. Now I pay extra to get that variant, but it also ensures other fans get to see JB's work in the store. I think that is a fair trade off and better than buying mulitple copies just for myself. Just doing my small part to help IDW sell some books.

That's a great idea, Paul. I am going to try that but I'll buy two of the variants and see how that goes.

You guys could order these multiple copies through the DCBS and they would only run you $2.49.

anyone ---
If you guys buy the 2nd hardcover IDW volume, let me know if anyone get's it to be the same size as the first volume -- mine is HUGE. I was holding out hope a 2nd print run would one-day happen and the size problem would get fixed.

Yes, I can see how he'd make that mistake......

Mike O'Brien:No, it's not artificial control of the market, it's me paying what I think the product is worth.I'm willing to pay $40 or $200 a month to get more JBNM. Clearly paying $3.99 a month won't cut it. And I'd like to see the book continuing to be published. That's the free market right there. I could pay John Byrne directly to just write/draw the books for me directly, but I don't have that kind of scratch. I do, however, have enough to buy a few dozen copies each month, and if a number of us do that, the book will continue to be published. I have no qualms about the difference between holding, giving etc. I bought them, I can do what I like with them. As is, I throw out most comics after reading anyway. No difference.

Whilst i understand the sentiment Mike, I do not see this as the right way to inflate numbers.
Furthermore, having read some of jb's opinions on buying multiple copies of a comic I can not believe this is something he would want you to do.
By all means encourage people to buy next men, but let each sale actually be to a reader, otherwise you are behaving no better than the "fan" who buys various variant covers from marvel and dc

Eric:
That is a good point, Tim.
I just remember when I was looking for Lab Rats and my comic shop guy said he grouped them with the Archie comics because he thought it was a kiddie comic or not being able to buy Danger Unlimited and Babe because my comic shop guy didn't want to order the minimum three issues to get me one. I just hope Next Men is treated better buy the retailers so it gets a fair shot to succeed.

Unfortunately Eric, maybe he honestly thought he would not be able to sell the other 2 copies, rather than him not wanting to sell one to you

Unfortunately Eric, maybe he honestly thought he would not be able to sell the other 2 copies, rather than him not wanting to sell one to you•• Pity he couldn't lend that crystal ball to other shops, or even to the publishers themselves. Think of all the money that could be saved, all the wasted time and effort avoided, by knowing MONTHS in advance what is going to sell, and what isn't!

I was holding out hope a 2nd print run would one-day happen and the size problem would get fixed. --- I didn't know there was a size difference between the first and second volumes. That's disappointing. (The first volume I have is slightly larger than a regular-sized comic book.)
