This is totally unbelievable news. I had long stopped dreaming of JB returning to NextMen. Like everyone here I can't wait. This comic book renewed my interest in the whole genre in the 90's when I chanced into a comic book shop in England out of curiosity only to discover that a new series in the Xmen mould -or so I thought at first- was being written and drawn by a former hero of mine. And what a book!

I expect no inferior shock from the "new" series mister Byrne!

And as is often the case now, I don't know what to do about the purchasing of this. There are no comic book stores near me yet I would like to show my support to IDW and to JB by buying the monthly issues but a subscription would be crazy just as a monthly or so trip to Paris would. I'm afraid I"ll have to wait for the trade but the wating will kill me or buy individual books in pack of 9 or 10 issues at a time in the second hand internet market - but with no money given to IDW.

I re-read the phonebooks on release, I think I will read the Premiere editions as we get closer to December.  I still only have the first one, though - I have to track down the second one.

Adam H:  "Do the phone books include 2112?  I read maybe the first 10 or soissues and then stopped following it (and most comics as I entered latehigh school/early college), and I'd like to catch up on it and get intothe new IDW series.  Is there anything else, aside from the seriesitself and 2112, related to Next Men"

***

Yes, "2112" is in the first phonebook.  But honestly, I would take JB's advice and just read the new issues as they come out.  As we know from the "Pull List" threads, you're really well read when it comes to current comic book titles - it would be interesting to hear your reaction to the stories without doing the "homework".  Just a suggestion...

Currently reading the phone books for the first time since I bought them and I have to say that I love reading this in b/w. JB's art looks awesome!

Also fun to finally get to read the M4 stuff which wasn't included in the TPBs (which is how I originally read the series, having been away from superhero comics* while JBNM hit the stands the first time around).

* Although, while certainly an excellent superhero comic, I think it's safe to say that it's equally an excellent SF yarn in its own right, and could well appeal to fans of SF who are normally not interested in superheroes.
