Tim, as a matter of fact.... No, just kidding. But I am becoming increasingly... I don't know... like a kid waiting for his monthly comics... And the temptation to look at that preview is growing. I hope I can keep myself so busy I will be able to reach the comics kinda preview free... Can Hardly waiiiiiiiiiiit !

<JB> This is one of the odd aspects of bringing the Next Men back -- the series was originally set in an imaginary Future, now I guess it's set in an imaginary Past!
Indeed. The future history Thomas Kirkland details identifies 2002 and 2009 as landmark years for trigger gene research (isolation and 'cure'). Real history catches up to all speculative future fiction eventually. The fact that people still enjoy 2001:A Space Odyssey despite it's inconsistencies with reality shows that audiences can cope with these incongruencies and still be entertained.
(besides, in a story that involves time travel there's a potential for even those anomalous years to 'make sense' if the author deems it necessary)

With all this anticipation I hope you "old timers" are not going to be disappointed with the first new issue. As I have emphasized, the main function of this one is to serve as an "on ramp" for new readers.

Maybe you should have made it a double-sized issue, so part of it could be a recap and the rest to advance the storyline more.
I just hope there will be a copy left when I get to the store on Friday.

I haven't had any interest in a new comic in a long, long time. Thanks for that JB. The anticipation has been exciting. I should be getting the compleat Next Men V1 today, (unless all this snow ties up UPS) so I have a couple days to catch up and start fresh.

It's pretty much anticipation of this this that's keeping my fragile grip on monthly comics alive now, as I'm otherwise down to comics that while good aren't monthlies so much as 'mini-series of 1-6 issues' then a gap of 3-4 months then repeat (Astro City, BPRD, Jack Staff...) Simon BJ

JB, thank you! This is the first time in years that my anticipation of a new superhero comic hasn't been mixed with a slight sense of dread. There have been things coming out that I've thought might have been good but I just can't trust Marvel and DC enough to KNOW it will turn out well. This is different. Two more days to go and I know I'll be happy I bought it.

I just thought to myself, "Wow, 15 years since the last issue was released."
1995 right? I was a Sophomore in high school (or maybe a Junior depending on what month the final issue was released in). Since then I've graduated college, earned a masters degree and been in my career for nine years.
