I guess the point I'm making is, for thick-headed dolts like me, I only fully grasp how fake the Russian adventure against the "Omega" mutates was when I juxtapose the scene with Hercules against the scene with the biker shown above.   I guess for me, JB draws so realistically and convincingly that it is hard for me to accept that the whole Russian adventure was fake.   Only by juxtaposing those two scenes do I drive the point home in my own mind.

Hmmm... Okay. Your post up top reads as though you're putting forth
another example of a JBNM character's hand being injured.

my son grew up obsessed with hands getting cut off thanks to George Lucas and Star Wars...maybe JB is unknowingly channeling the same vibe...?

Sure, because such a thing never appeared in fiction (or the real world) before Lucas did it.

I would think JB has a serious fear of his hands being maimed.

If you were he, wouldn't you?

I have a pretty serious fear of my hand (or any other limb) being cut off too!

I remember reading about Beowulf when I was a child and really feeling sorry for Grendel.  Kill a monster if ya must, but don't rip his arm off while you're at it!

My first encounter with the hand-loss wound was in a novel called THE VIKINGS I read when I was in my early teens. This was subsequently made into a movie with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis.

In the book, one of the characters hand is chopped off as a punishment, and he immediately turns around and plunges the stump into a cauldron of burning pitch, to cauterize it. Double whammy! I had nightmares for weeks!

Sucks when you get your whacking hand whacked off.

That must be what Terry Jones was referencing in that scary scene with John Cleese in Erik the Viking.
