Robert, I think you've hit the nail on the head. Characters like WW and Thor should have EPIC ( yes in all caps!) adventures with larger than life villains and situations. Seeing Wonder Woman running through the streets and beating up thugs in business suits isn't a good start. Perhaps the EPIC will come later.

And now ABC World News with Diane Sawyer is promoting the story for their Wednesday night broadcast. ********************************* And here it is: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/woman-makeover-11059124 So "nice" that they take it seriously...... *sigh*

The new costume is atrocious; hardly evocative of Wonder Woman, ugly and, quite frankly, out-dated looking. (It calls to mind the leather jacket and biking shorts look for the Deodato era.)
But it will hardly last, anymore than Superman's mullet or his "electric blue" phase lasted. It's a cheap and lazy stunt for attention, but in the long run will be nothing more than a barely remembered blip in Wonder Woman's history.

"...more protective, more functional..."
Oh, boy, Jim Lee has really lost the plot.
(On a side note, Lynda Carter looks amazing)

Dollars to doughnuts that someone thinks this costume will 'translate' to film better than her iconic one. If they ever do get around to making a WW movie and it features this monstrosity, it will be an automatic pass for me even if everything else is perfect.

I have to admit that I'm getting a kick ou of reading all of the posters on Newsarama tearing this to shreds. Usually their opinions are at odds with those of JBFers. You know it's bad when both sites are united in their hatred of this!

I can't imagine they would make a film without using a design based on Wonder Woman's real costume. Civilians know what Wonder Woman looks like, and they don't know or care about silly redesigns and reboots. Film producers aren't going to want to tamper with that recognition factor. Nobody cares about the comics anymore, and I think it's more likely that a film production will be the precipitant that leads to the return of the "classic" Wonder Woman in the comics.

What's depressing about WW #600 is how good the classic Wonder Woman stories are that open the book. There's a lot of mileage left in the character. If DC could have kept Terry and Rachel Dodson as the book's art team, the most recent relaunch would have really taken hold. Gail Simone with the Dodsons or some other popular artist (Jim Lee, Adam Hughes, Art Adams, etc.) would have done it, too. Or assign George Perez as the regular artist. This shouldn't be rocket science.

I hope you're right, Jason, but I never underestimate the Hollywood propensity to "improve" comic book characters.

Yes, Lloyd. And for evidence, let's see how Hollywood "improves" Superman's look in the upcoming, Nolan-produced film.
