Jodi, do you consider nuclear power to fall beneath the umbrella of alternative energy?  Because much the same as you, I consider anyone who has scorned and opposed expansion of our nuclear infrastructre, to be a big part of this event.

I will part with you on your on your belief in man-made global warming, as well as any suggestion of any kind of global climate stability, but for the life of me, I will never understand a why a person of such belief would ever oppose nuclear energy. 

Aren't the oil companies in the majority of those who are against wind farms?  I recall several 'higher ups' condeming them because of an unforseen environmental impact...

Or were those the environmentalists...?  Heck, I can't keep 'em straight anymore.

In much the same way that I don't believe in a god, Al; I have yet to see anything to convince me otherwise, and wanting such evidence, to my mind, such a belief runs intuitively contrary to the admitedly circumstantial evidence of constant climate change found in geological records.

To be certain, however, I feel no antipathy for those who hold a contrary belief, but much like social legislation based on religious values, I'm vigilantly opposed to draconian legislation such as cap and trade, based on a belief in man-caused climate change. 

I do hope that people have the common sense to see this for what it is. How well did the forces of the Free Market handle this? How's that drill baby drill working out for you?

Having said that - people also fell for the rising prices back in summer 08 - rising prices at the pump... (wait for it...) WHILE THE OIL COMPANIES WERE MAKING RECORD PROFITS. They cried and told us that they just had to raise prices! The cost of a barrel of oil was higher so it gets passed on to you, the dumb-shit walking ATM - er, I mean, consumer. Yet, if they were making record high profits, they could absorb the cost of the barrel of oil in the short term. But no - Americans paniced and worried about the well being of billionaires who could give two shits if you live or die, and are only concerned with wringing the last few cents from your dried up corpses.

Whew... feels good to get that off my chest..

Are they afraid wind is a non-renewable resource?

I ask only partly in jest. Years ago I briefly dated a young woman with whom I had approximately the following conversation one day:

SHE: All this garbage and pollution! What can we do about it?

ME: I guess we could load all the garbage into rocket ships and fire them into the Sun!

SHE: Wouldn't that knock it down?
