Great comic guy and was nice enough to answer in a letter column for me what an inker does.  He replied get gray hairs mostly and then proceeded to tell me.  Only letter I ever wrote and he published it.  Guess he knew something about those crazy inkers!  Really liked his art and enjoyed the titles he edited.  Plus he brought Jim Aparo over to DC, among other things.  RIP.

I just happened to have read a couple of Frank Brunner-drawn "Dr. Strange" issues earlier today inked by Giordano. The power of those inks was even more evident when viewed in their black-&-while, "Essentials" reprint form.

His line showed how much energy and spontaneity can be shown in the action whatever the scene called for.
You can tell whatever he worked on by looking at his linework.
He has a distinguished line over whomever he inked.
On his inking of JB, I quite like the pairing, esp during Man of Steel.
I enjoyed his eyebrows and nose and cheeks inkings, no matter who he inked over, you can tell it was him just by looking at it.

As well as many others in my learning of the process of storytelling and art, his name was always popping up in so many things I enjoyed to read.

Quite shocking to hear, almost unbelievable. Rest in Peace.

When I read about what he had, I knew that Dick was in for a tough uphill battle.  Late-stage Leukemia is not one of those things that you can lick as easily as one thinks, given what is available to cancer patients today.  I do hope that Dick gave it his best shot.

Now, however, let us offer our sympathies for the Giordano family and friends and colleagues who knew Dick in his day.  Wherever you are now, Dick, stop by and give a word to my Uncle Buddy...

What do you think Dick Giordano will be remembered for?  To me, it will be his work on Superman as inker for JB.

The two things I immediately think of when Dick Giordano is mentioned are his superb inking of JB's Superman and the introduction he wrote for The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told. Of course, that's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his great body of work. Something I read just recently was the adaptation of Dracula that he did with Roy Thomas, an excellent piece of work.
