Thanks Matthew I am very happy tonight, it's nice knowing we live in one of the best countries in the world and we will help it's citizens lead better lives. Now he needs to work on a jobs bill and get rid of don't ask, don't tell.
But I am very sad we have gotten to a place where it is not uncommon to have those that disagree to yell out "Baby killer", "Nigger" and "Faggot". If republicans don't take a stand against the fringe in their party, I will lose any respect I have for them.

So when can I start teaching all of you our secret Socialist handshake?
Seriously though - congrats for continuing to take steps to make yourselves a better country. I raise a frosty mug of Canadian beer in your honour!

Good for you that you managed to get some changes in (unless the Senate completely flakes on you). Though as far as socialism goes, the only way you could possibly see socialism from where you're at with health-care is if you have the keen eyesight of Sarah "I spy on Moscow from my front porch" Palin.

Didn't Palin admit to going to Canada to seek socialized medicine? Must have been back in her wild beauty queen days.

Economist Paul Krugman writes in his latest column in the NYT:
QUOTE:
On the eve of the big vote, Republican members of Congress warned that “freedom dies a little bit today” and accused Democrats of “totalitarian tactics,” which I believe means the process known as “voting.” |

And the money pit has been downgraded from Sarlaac to chasm! Iit took us 60 years, but we've reached the end of the beginning on single payer, the inevitable conclusion to this whole mess. Joe, the Heath family grew up in a rural area near the Canadian border. The biggest hospital nearby was over that border in Whitehorse. So the whole town probably used that option when they had to. Plus, she was six; it wasn't her call to make. Don't get me wrong: she's a despicable shitheel and I can't fucking stand her. But she gets a mulligan on this one.

Well, now that health care reform has passed, we can get down to the REAL nitty-gritty: RUSH LIMBAUGH MUST NOW LEAVE THE COUNTRY! It's a great day for America.

Oh, if only Tom, if only. I'm pretty happy right now. Number one to see Obama say the hell with all the bullshit, let's just get something done. Nice to see him gorw some balls. Next stop, gay marriage. This bill may not be the complete answer, but it's a step in the right direction. Number two, I know right now Glenn beck is in spasms, and I would pay good money to see that. Now when all those people see this isn't end of America as we know it, maybe they'll shut the hell up and focus on some real problems.

Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but is there anything in this bill that requires insurers to, you know, actually pay claims? Its one thing to have insurance, its another to get the fuckers to pay. I've been looking at reports of the bill but I've not seen that reported (I don't have the time or patience to read the actual bill itself so if the answer lies therein, mea culpa). If there is no requirement to pay how is this bill, which mandates the purchasing of insurance, a bad thing for insurers? Doesn't it mean they just got $30 million new customers to fuck over?
