Easy Brad - he's trolling for a reaction. Don't play into it.

Instead - ask how that applies at all to the situation that William brought up. Is he implying that William skirted his financial obligations? Does he know of a specific person who has? Or is it just some sort of strawman tactic? (DING DING)

It was a pretty insulting thing to say to William, but by treating it like a real statement, we're only giving it credit it doesn't deserve.

So William,  without health insurance your wife got the treatment she needed?  And for free?

In my above post I stated that I paid in $230 a month towards my insurance at my previous employer. So even if I had no copays and received a check for $200 from a supplemental insurance, I'm still $30 in the hole. Figure in copays and it's even more. Now you may not be in the hole as much as you would be if you had no insurance, but you sure as hell aren't making money.

That's a valid way to look at it, William, and I concede your point; I however, don't think of it that way.  To me, a premium is a payment I make in exchange for the peace of mind that comes with a subscription to an insurance plan, and it's something that I will pay whether I get sick or not, but as I said before, the point you make is a valid point.
If, however, I were to rephrase my statement to read: for me, getting sick often results in such way that I receive more money than I would otherwise have if I were to have not gotten sick.  Would you still object?

Joseph, you may have unwittingly stumbled onto why so many of us are so mad at insurance with this statement: "To me, a premium is a payment I make in exchange for the peace of mind that comes with a subscription to an insurance plan"

I've paid into insurance my whole life (when I could get it - and only then through employers. I'm a "pre-existing" type) - and yet - even with all the payments into the system - I walked out of a hospital stay with a bill for TEN FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS.

TEN FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS

What the sweet shit have I been paying hundreds of dollars a month deducted out of my payroll checks for?

I know that some of you brainwashed apes will have some witty reply about the free market that you heard on Sean Hannity or something, but seriously - Brad walks out of the hospital paying $50 and I walk out paying $10,000 and the only difference is a border. Is life so hard in Candada? Has their health care ruined life up there?

In fact, it hasn't. I've been to Candada a few times, and, first, other than the fact that most Candadians are better dressed and have better manners than America, and a slight accent, you CAN'T TELL THE DAMN PLACES APART. (Unless you're going from Detroit to Windsor. Detroit is a fucking Shit-hole. Let's be frank here.)

I don't even get why the serfs are so busy taking a moral stand on behalf of their masters - it's not like the Republicans have a legit ground to stand on - it's the Iraq war all over. Remember that shit - "Why are we invading a soverign nation that hasn't threatened us?" and they'd just spin the wheel and pick a different lie depending on what day it was? Same shit. Their lies are hung out to dry every day and yet each day they're back with new ones, and their zombie followers don't take the half-second to care if it's true or not, they just rant and screach in public and on the media and on the internet. Point of fact, the bill that's finally floated to the surface of the toilet that we call congress? It's basically the Republican bill from the 1990s. It's being opposed because: 1) any bill will hurt the pockets of the industry that's killing people for profit and 2)the Republican plan is to oppose anything and everything, no matter what, even if it's things like - their own health care bill, or Al Franken's Anti-Rape bill. (Yup. Republicans voted FOR rape recently. Just so they wouldn't be on record as voting with Democrats.) Realize when you're being played, you fools.

I didn't walk out of the hospital paying $50 bucks - that part was fee-free. The prescription in the morning cost $50 bucks - and that only because I don't have a plan to cover THAT cost. Last time I had such a plan, it was about 10 bucks a month for 80% coverage after a 200 dollar deductible, hardly a second mortgage in the making for someone who needs regular meds.

With the money I save on healthcare, I buy premium DC Direct statues of my favourite heroes and heroines battling their arch-foes! Yep, life sure is hard up here in socialist healthcare land.

Brad, James is a troll he has been verbally abusive to several people here, seriously don't waste your time on him.

Go to this thread to see what kind of guy he is:

Brad is probably the kind of pinko commie socialist who'd take advantage of a sale on Amazon that may or may not have been a pricing error.

Hell, we're all like that up here.

And as far as our healthcare goes, well I know I'm not the only Canadian who will sometimes deliberately snap his own forearm in two just to enjoy the perks of socialized medicine.

...and I see Jodi already made my point, and more directly.

This is what I get for loading the forum and opening a new tab in my browser for every thread I want to catch up on, then taking a half hour to read through them all.  They've always moved on by the time I post.  Dang.

Brad yesterday I got 6 out of the 8 Barnes and Noble ones I ordered . I bought 2 Creepy Omnibus and 2 Eerie and some stuff for my son. I wasn't going to order any, but after reading James posts, I wanted to stick it to the man and James. LOL

I am hoping Obama comes thru with his promise of making this a socialist country and we get all the free Omnibus we want, wait or is that a communist idea, I'll have to check my pinko handbook. ;0) I love trolls they give us so much great material to work with.

Well, my credit card still has the charges on it, but they haven't sent either of the two Omnibuses I ordered yet. We'll see.
