What an nice commission idea. An awesome way to start off commission year 2010! Also, one of my favorite drawing of the Thing I have seen from JB. Congratulations to the commissioner on a wonderful piece. Well done, JB!

JB, can you share your technique for integrating type/lettering in the background? Thanks.

Nice! Clever commission idea. Good job, Steve! And good job, JB, or is that redundant?

Just curious.... (Awesome commission, by the way).... Are the posters behind Ben considered additional characters in terms of having to pay for them?

Kevin -- Jim Warden has all the details.

Awesome piece JB! Great idea for a commission! As to the open had comment; only Liefeld draws Thing err... Badrock with constantly two closed fists. Great way to start off the year!

Every time I see the first post, with its reference to "Ben and Franklin," my mind skips over the word "and" and I wonder what Ben Franklin has to do with this piece. Then I start envisioning Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson standing in front of a wall with pictures of Geroge Washington, Sam Adams, John Hancock, and all the other patriots of that era, complete with "Apprehended" and "Slain" labels. Anyway ... gorgeous commission.

As it happens, Jason, the mutant in the commission's full name is Franklin Benjamin Richards.

Thanks for the link to the homages, Steve -- cool stuff. In my mind's eye I was imagining an homage with an Iron Man theme, but that "Armor Wars" version doesn't do it for me. I don't mind the Silver Centurion armor, but that homage just doesn't do it for me (love the artwork, just not the best subject). Maybe a classic red-and-gold Iron Man with Avengers on the "wanted" poster -- protecting Rick Jones, perhaps?
