Days of future past was so chock full of nuances it's no wonder it has been mined to death by others since. As a youngster I recall being shocked Magneto was portrayed as one of the "good" guys in the future. Was this the first time he was shown as something other than a villian in comics?

I thought it was: FIND & NEUTRALIZE. For neutralize I´ve never had problems to understand KILL IF NECESSARY. As I remember it, anyway.

Yes. And as with just about everything else in that story, I regret it to this day!

Great idea, great execution. Allow me to be jealous for this fantastic (no pun intended) cover.
This story should be the only link to the Days of Future Past storyline (well, maybe there could be a small story about the involvement of Alpha Flight from Canada).

"Days of Future Past" should only have been explored further by you, JB -- perhaps
as a miniseries or graphic novel.

What REALLY bugs me about DOFP is the aftermath scene between Sebastian Shaw, Gyrich and Sen. Kelly.

They discuss bringing about a new breed of Sentinel. It seemed to me that the Hellfire Club was going to manipulate things and remain on the book as the X-Men's main nemesis.

And none of it ever went anywhere.

I'm glad Wyatt Wingfoot was slain. I never liked that guy.

I agree.....

John's departure from the book was the X-men's loss but Fantastic Four's gain!!!

As a kid, Fantastic Four were always my favorite - cant explain why...they just always were......so John joining the book was just awesome.

In hindsight...more issues of Byrne / Austin / Claremont's stunning run on Uncanny including Mariko's death at the hands of Sabretooth, the return of Dark Phoenix and the Hellfire Club alongside Gyrich would have been so cool!
