Emery Calame: Ah. Apparently Jeff Smith was an illustrator for Disney Adventures magazine.
-----------
Yeah... I remember they printed some of his BONE stuff a long while back...

'll be happy if Marvel starts publishing stories about these characters again...
I hope so too Nathan.

Most successful on earth? I guess it depends on how you define success. I would think there are comic publishers in Europe and Japan that outsell Marvel. Archie currently outsells Marvel in the US too, doesn't it? Man, if Marvel's best-selling titles "sell" about 100,000 copies regularly, that means their total readership is probably about 75,000 people.
The fact Marvel publishing is profitable certainly doesn't mean it's untouchable. It's quite possible someone at Disney may think it can be made more profitable with changes. Those changes might mean replacing people, they might mean blowing everything up and rebuilding, they might mean farming things out. Who knows?

I've read not long ago that Manga in Japan is a billion dollar market in revenues, way ahead of America and Europe. ________________________ I knew it was successful but not that lucrative.

I wonder if the "visual identity" of Marvel characters is going to be standardized. --- Not to throw my rattle out of the pram or anything, but I did mention this back on page six of this thread.

Here's a thought. If Disney gets rid of the Marvel publishing branch, DC will be the top seller of comic books.

Sometimes companies prefer to spend $0 to make $10 million than spending $10 million to make $30 million. --------------- That's funny! You must be a riot at the shareholders' meetings... ------------------ Don't laugh - That's completely true. I'm working with a company at the moment that is doing exactly that. I work with companies ALL THE TIME that do this.

If Disney gets rid of the Marvel publishing branch, DC will be the top seller of comic books. +++ Not really, Disney might spin-off the publishing business and simply license the use of characters, it does not mean that Marvel Comic Books will not be published anymore. Of course that this is all speculation, but Disney have done that in the past
