How about in the not-too-distant future, instead of Tinkerbell flying out of the castle and over the park before a fireworks display, you see the Silver Surfer!

Craig, why do you say there won't be any Marvel characters in the parks? I don't get it. ************* The Disney parks are all about theming. Superheroes would only fit in the Disney Studios park (formerly Disney/MGM Studios) and possibly Disney's California Adventure. The Incredibles only appeared at DS for guest interactions and only in the Animation Building. I've only been to DCA once and it seemed that Disney was struggling to find a theme that would stick. For years there has been talk of Disney constructing a thrill-ride park. Currently, each park only has 1-2 rides that could be catergorized as thrill rides (Mission Space, Test Track, Everest, Dinosaur, Rock & Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror & maybe Splash Mountain). A 5th park (gate) that is mostly thrill rides would appeal to teens and adults who currently think that Disney is for kids. It will also bring back young kids as they age from elementary to middle school ages. A park that has a section with superheroes as well as a section for villians has a greater potential to be constructed than trying to shoehorn comicbook characters into their current structure.

As a Disney fan and a comic book fan it's hard to find anything funny when combining the two. I don't want my peanut butter mixed with chocolate.

I imagine that many of you, like me, get e-newsletters from MHC (Mile HIgh Comics) each week. I just got one a few minutes ago where Chuck Rozanski (president of MHC) writes:
All of the above having been said, I was shocked to see a poll on a major comics news website that showed that 76% of responding comics fans thought that the Disney purchase of Marvel was either "terrible," or "quite concerning." I have to tell you that, in my opinion, just the opposite is true. As I see it, one of Marvel's biggest problems of the past couple of years has been their inability to generate enough internal working capital to finance production of their films. As a direct result, the managers of the print business have been under tremendous pressure to maximize profits, even if it meant that the end result was possibly the ultimate shutting down of the periodicals portion of their business. I believe that all of this changes with the new Disney ownership, as Disney clearly has very deep financial pockets, and does not need to squeeze every last penny out of the periodicals business in order to fund new films. Disney also can create wonderful new income streams by merchandizing Marvel characters via their theme parks and existing big box store distribution channels. I see fantastic synergies resulting from this merger that will end up making Marvel much, much stronger. My concerns about the future of Marvel's periodicals business are now completely allayed, and I am feeling more confident about Marvel's future than at any time in several years. Simply put, I think this merger is going to end up being great for all Marvel comics fans!
I have to say that Chuck's assessment is encouraging! :-)
