I'd agree that he's somewhat better than average. Unfortunately, being average in the comic book industry means completely missing the point of superheroes.

Thanks, Chad...Appreciated!

But honestly...Joe's right...I still have a LOT to learn...and I'm perfectly okay with that...:)
My stuff keeps getting called 'oldschool', in that I don't do all the extraneous 'lines' everywhere that seems to be so popular these days..Ive always said that why JB and Perez' stuff are my influences, because their STORYTELLING is FLAWLESS. Neither of them use 'camoflauge' as I call it, to hide their inability to actually draw decent anatomy, and in JBS cae ENVIRONMENT.
I can say with absolute certainty that John is  a true MASTER of environment..I cant think of anyone who does it better. Bryan Hitch is another..amazing. Humbling.

In the meantime, I'm getting paid to do what I love to do..and still striving to be better...so, nothing he says hurts me. ( Sorry, Joe).

Back on topic...JBs environments have CONTINUED to get better and better as he's grown as an Artist...That and his TEXTURES...AMAZING.

I think I prefer Stephen's art when it is inked, not just shot from pencils as his Avengers/Invaders appears to be. If I am incorrect about that, I apologize. That being said, the only impression I get of Stephen being "old school" is that the majority of his projects have involved Golden Age characters, which is about as old school as one can get.

I prefer his drawing style to many of these "Jim Lee lite", or "hip-hop/manga" inspired comic book pencillers that seem to be popping up lately.

I'd rather see Steve S. getting paid over roughly half the artists at the Big Two right now.

I couldn't figure out what you guys were talking about...

Until I remembered that I put someone on ignore long ago and that's who some of you were responding to!

Anyway, Mr. Byrne's "old stuff" isn't better in my eyes 'though I have a strong fondness for it because I was heavily into comics when he was on FF, AF, and others. I still think some of his best work is to be found in GENERATIONS, BATMAN/CAP, THE DEMON, and JBNM.

 Thanks, again Chad!

Ron, I prefer me inked too! The pencils totally got lost under the colour. Ah well...

 Anyway....back on topic....!

 Was JBs Demon ever collected?
I remember leafing through a couple issues thinking I would pick up the trade when it came out, and I don't recall ever seeing one...
 Anyone?

Stephen- I have never seen a collection for Demon.  Of course I already had them as I was buying it monthly so I may have missed it.

btw, I for one loved Avengers/Invaders (even though it was a little long) so keep up the good work.

No BLOOD OF THE DEMON collection. Which is a shame since it's the best JB art since GENERATIONS and third behind the excellent MARVEL: LOST GENERATION. Love that series.

Oh, and speaking of JB runs uncollected, where the f*ck is GENERATIONS 3 please?!? I'm never going to get to read that story!

Can you, or anyone, direct us where to see the uncolored art?  I'd really like to see what the art really looked like.
