On the matter of Bizarro -- remember, he began as an imperfect copy of Superman, a pretty simple and straightforward description. Over the years, he was changed into an opposite of Superman, and this was, as is so often the case, pushed to extremes. So we get the freeze vision, blowing flames, and the backwards S emblem. And, of course, the poignancy of the original Bizarro story is lost entirely.

The idea of the opposite of Superman always seemed off to me. Wouldn't it (also) mean some sort of physical weakness?

A literal opposite of Superman would have no powers, be physically frail, probably mentally challenged, and above all EVIL.

Huh. This Bizarro talk makes me realize that you can really only use the poignant, imperfect duplicate who realizes that he's flawed version once. Which is what JB did in Man of Steel. However, since the conceit of "Superman's Silly Twin" is just very compelling, the character keeps returning anyways.

I didn't mind the Geoff Johns one, though admittedly it was made awesome by Eric Powell's art and the fact that the Bizarro Lantern punched himself in the face with a construct, which was HILARIOUS!

A little late on joining in but I have an observation...many artists who draw comics like Ed Benez - I think thats what his name is - get dogged because of their style. But FQ gets a pass by many and I think his art is dull and lifeless. I think there are websites out there that lead people to believe that stuff like what FQ puts out is good.
