Funny, Nathan.  I really loved the AF covers from issues 18 to 29 (Pink Pearl! Gilded Lily! The Sasquatch battle!)   But I guess the truth is - the entire run of JB AF covers is pretty awesome.

I chose these two instead of just one because they compliment each other so well. Too bad there is not a Captain America Cover like these two to stick in the middle.

When I was 13,  I used to say that John Byrne drew the best covers.  Now I'm 37 and I *still* say that.

I remember being that young age in 1985 and having my eye drawn to the "Alpha Flight" issue I mentioned above - #22 with Pink Pearl- because it was so different than anything else I was seeing on the 7-Eleven rack.  It stuck out.  I'm going to cheat and put it on here anyway even though I've posted a cover.  There are many other JB covers I've grown to like more over the years, but this is sentimental.

Choosing a favorite John Byrne cover is always hard. I LOVED his Captain
America run especially with this image...

... and when JB started working at DC, THIS cover really got me
excited about the possibilities....

To be perfectly honest will you all, I don't see how a single cover can be selected.  Everytime someone posts a cover I find myself thinking "yeah, I like that one"  then the next one has me thinking "yeah I like that one too".   To quote "Office Space" and the scene about Michael Bolton's music, "I celebrate the man's entire collection".  ha

About that Superman vs. Superboy cover...

Man! That thing with Krypto killed me! Seeing him on that cover and knowing what happens to him in the issue is just tragic. He was a real hero and made a real sacrifice.

That is one damn fine dog.

Great covers, The Angel one seems to work well from different aspects. The use of warm and cool colors together greatly compliment the subtle emotions depicted in the scene
