"Brevoort is responding on his blog to a thread he read here on this blog, he's not "attacking" JB like some others here seem to think."

Oh, he's just "talking" about JB.

Duhhhhr.

I wonder.

That speaks to your credit, JB.  The comic book audience is different than what it was in the 80s.  Most of us here followed your name onto any book you chose, just as modern Marvelites follow Bendis or Millar (though I feel those 2 are not among the better writers at Marvel right now).  I don't think your return would be "huge" either, but that's not a slight to you at all.  We'd all be there because we know you have consistent quality and a respect for the characters.  Nobody at Marvel thinks they "need" past quality creators, because they feel they're doing just fine with the novelists, Hollywood writers and the current crop of artists, but I think it would be great to see JB's return to much beloved characters.  Look, Art Adams is drawing Hulk right now.  JRjr has been on multiple Marvel titles in the past year or two.  It can be done!

Isn't there/shouldn't there be rules about flaming on this board? Posters like this really drag the place down with childish and insulting comments all the time.

In the end, that the two parties can't do business means less Byrne comics to go around (especially for guys like me who have Star Trek allergies...;-) )

Exactly, the big picture. The rest is just trivilalities.

You guys don't give a whit about comics. All you want to do is "see" something new. You don't care about whether the craft of comics is going down the toilet. All you want is the next distraction. The next "crisis". The next "war".

Richard (and others), the "Ignore" function can be your friend.

Thanks Bruce, good idea. :)

I put a lot of it down to Joe's immaturity and perhaps lack of comprehension of other's points, but really it just drags the forum down IMO if you've got a small % of posters who are just here to constantly blow smoke up JB's ass and aggressively insult and attack anything they perceive to be a detraction on the man.

I've always wondered about that phrase, "put up or shut up." Aren't they
essentially the same thing? Isn't putting up, shutting up? And vice versa?

••

"Put up or shut up" is another way of saying "Put your money where your mouth
is." In other words, stand behind what you say with action, not merely words.*

Which, as noted, I have been doing for 30+ years, now.

*In this context, it's also an example of the phrase that best encapsulated
Marvel's attitude toward Jack Kirby -- "What have you done for us lately?"

The only thing I can get from this blog, http://www.marvel.com/blogs/Tom_Brevoort/ , is that he wants JB back at M****l, while still retaining some sort of self respect about it.
He can't just say "Ok, you are right, get back here" can he?
He CAN say what he says, and hope that JB picks up on the 'challenge", and the end result would be the same, JB doing stuff for them.

It's an outright invitation, but no admittal that they are in any way wrong about anything... oh, no..
