"and I'm sure JQ approaches his job differently seven years on, with the benefit of hindsight and experience, as do we all."

So will that experience allow JQ to treat JB more fairly. Or enable him to screw JB over more thoroughly?

 QUOTE:
I wouldn't be nearly that generous.  I'll give Marvel 1/10 of a point.  The problem is the fact that a line of comics designated "for kids" is necessary.  These are superhero stories for Dog's sake!  Shouldn't they be accessible to kids?  Any kid old enough to realize he's reading the comics "for kids" wouldn't want to.  They'd want the "real" stories.  Which are of course....not appropriate.

You can't find anything to give to a kid?  You will read all of them and verify?

No one knows what either Brevoort or anyone at Marvel would say to John.

That was called a literary aside, Martin. It's kind of like a take-off on a scenario that JB might be faced with.

I would think having JB tough-talking Brevoort would have been a clear indicator of the "speculative" nature of the post.

Good gods. Look at that list. Virtually the same line-up as ten, twenty ago. The "creative" people who "work" at Marvel are the true welfare queens.

ME, "This was 10 years ago. Joe Quesada is not the same editor in chief he was
then and he himself said he has learned over the last 10 years."

••

JB, "In fact is was seven years ago. I guess I have three years to wait."

........

NO! Please! I just want your beautiful art to grace the pages of my favorite characters again. You have done amazing work since you left Marvel. I thought it had been 10 years but I was wrong. It just feels like forever.

A Spider-Man arc with you and Mr. Gugenheim would be fantastic. Or maybe you could do an arc with John Romita Jr. just to see how it goes.

I do not expect the relationship to be healed overnight or even over a few months. It will take work on both ends.

How many of those comics listed do you think would be interesting and accessible to a new, young reader?  If a kid tried to transition from Marvel Adventures to a mainstream Marvel title, I think they would tend to be disappointed, disenchanted and disinterested.

Zaki said, "These are, in fact, the very Marvel titles that are most often found on newsstands, and the digests are sold in schools as part of book fairs, too.

And MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN is the publisher's number one subscription title."

.........

Yes Marvel is doing a great job promoting these books. Marvel places subscription cards in popular kids magazines like Disney Adventures. I see them all over Borders when I go there. These are bing read for sure.

And they are good reads with stories that do not go beyond one issue. They do not talk down to kids they just provide hassle-free stories with good clean art. Very enjoyable.

The "same line-up", Joe? What should they do, cancel those doddering old-timers like Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four etc in favour of some brand new properties? That makes perfect business sense...

I'd say New Exiles and Amazing Spider-Man would be "young reader" friendly from that list, off the top of my head?

Roger Stern's issue of ASM this past week is 100% young reader friendly.

You seem to be imbuing me with supernatural powers, here. Apparently,
with the same people in charge as were there the last time, I can now walk
into Marvel and find the place completely transformed. No more would I be
lied to, or about, or generally fucked over

I'm confused somewhat by the nature of the beast...why would Marvel worry about anything JB is doing with characters in his title, be it a Wolverine book or Fantastic Four or whatever? If the problem is editorial interference, then do a Marvel Adventures title which JB style is more suited anyway.

Or, what about some other lower tier characters kicking around ripe for some work? The Inhumans, the Eternals, Hawkeye...what about a new Power Man and Iron Fist comic? Doesn't even have to be Danny Rand as Iron Fist...have another guy as Iron Fist. War Machine. Hell, I'd buy a new Great Lakes Avengers title by JB in a second. I don't know how Ghost Rider's doing, but I'd actually like to see that as well. Here's an idea: what about a NEW Ghost Rider, who doesn't use a motorcycle or a horse but some other iconic...thing...a new design too. Have GR riding around on the back of an undead Griffin.

Through these characters, you get JB's FF, JB's Avengers, JB's Son of Satan or the Hulk.

To be honest, Chad, the tough-talking sounded snarky to me. So, my bad.

My number one request at this point would be a MARVEL ADVENTURES CAPTAIN AMERICA title co-plotted by Roger Stern.

If there was ever anything of more actual importance, having good old-fashioned adventuring with a JB Cap would have to be up there.

Because as much as I like the CAP comic on the stands, it's not really Captain America in the comic. And I miss that guy, that "How?..." "Clean living does it, sonny" Cap.

JB, if you ever did talk to Marvel again, please consider such a thing as primary.
