Is Holy Terror "officially" off? I'd heard from some folks who saw some of the pages that the art was really incredible. Wonder what will become of all of those pages

I really like the *$!?"%!! convention for comic book swearing. What are the traditional characters for this? One's a swirl I haven't got on my keyboard. And who did it first?

Look:
Miller turns in a script that has the word "Goddamned" in it. DC prints it. No black bars. Apparently, no feedback, no, "uh, if you ever get a second issue out, could you lay off the salty talk"? So Miller continues to use the word, and others, without SELF-censorship. DC lets more "goddamned"s through. They black-bar other words. They let "sperm bank" through.
If you're a writer who's a fierce critic of the comics code, creator of a previous comics series full of not all-ages material but also lacking in a mature readers warning, trying to create a milieu for "your" Batman, and your editors display a certain (being generous here) inconsistency as regards to language (and other content, frankly), why the frick would you suddenly start SELF-censoring? "Let the profanities fly; god will know his own."
So, why didn't Miller just use black bars? Because he doesn't BELIEVE in black bars. #10 is probably his favorite issue to date!

This does make sense. i got under the impression that Millar knew the words get censored. But maybe he just expected it and looked how far he could go.

All I know is by virtue of the press that this has been given, Miller has given people a reason to badmouth the hobby who otherwise would have nothing to say about it. Just you wait until the PTC weighs in on it.

You know who I blame? The parents! Parents are irresponsible! They should monitor their kids more. If you can't read through pages and pages of comics, or play 100 hours of a videogame before letting your kids read it, you're a failure of a parent! America is a NAZI state of FASCISM that won't let me show whatever I want to children behind their parents back even thought I try.

I know you are sarcastic, Martin. But in germany the videogames are marked ( all ages, 12, 16, and for adults only), and I've seen lots of parents who just don't give a fuck. Yes, lots of parents ARE irresponsible.

I'm fine with that. As long as the parents know, then it becomes their decision. My friends and I saw all sorts of innapropriate movies in grade school.
I just find it immature when artists are too scared of losing revenue from having their work labeled properly. Because it's not about artistic expression, it's about money.

Found this: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/movies/20webs.html?pagewan ted=1&_r=1&sq
“I have a bunch of drawing I want to do,” he said. One project, which
began as “Holy War, Batman!,” a series with a post-9/11 context, has
shifted. “As I worked on it, it became something that was no longer
Batman. It’s somewhere past that, and I decided it’s going to be part
of a new series that I’m starting.”
