Normally, I'm one to complain about late books and blown deadlines. But in the case of All-Star Batman & Robin, I'm hoping all future issues get sidetracked and delayed indefinitely.

I agree, Bruce. If anything, it will spare us from more Jim Lee.

Thorsten said: I told the story to my girlfriend and she asked me why they put the words on the paper in the first place. I answered that I was asking this to myself and Miller said something like "to ensure that the censorbars are the right lenght". She said "That's not what I meant. Why use the words at all if you know the have to be censored".
i have often thought the same thing with music and the number of songs that get regular airplay that have certain lyrics bleeped out. why bother?

Silliest example of such foolishness, I think, was on a CD I picked up a few
years back, that had the lyrics printed in a booklet tucked into the cover.
Except they weren't the lyrics. Not exactly. Clearly audible "naughty words"
were cleaned up in the printed version.

I assume they do not care what the radio version sounds like as long as its uncensored on the CD.

For a long time, I've felt that radio stations should not play songs that need to be bleeped out. That'll get performers thinking twice about tossing out *-bombs unless they're really necessary.
One of the most ridiculous examples was some rap tune called "I Want a Gangsta Bitch", around 15 years ago. The expletive is right in the title of the song, fer crying out loud. So the radio stations were just dropping the word "bitch" every time, totally changing the point of the song (as if it had one anyway).

The Tragically Hip have done that, but at least not without humour.
The line
end of a line a real, rainbow-likening luck stop/where you could say I
became chronologically fuct-up
from "Locked in the Trunk of a Car" was printed in the lyrics sheet as
end of a line a real, rainbow-likening luck stop/where you could say I
became chronologically "sick and ashamed and happy",
complete with the quotation marks.

"to ensure that the censorbars are the right length"
...which he couldn't have done using words like "fork," "cant," "shut," or
other four-letter substitutes.

If he used those words they wouln't have to censor it, would they? The absurdity and irony of the whole thing knows no end.

Try this for something to be bleeped out.
Coincidentally called "Guess Who Batman? (F@*$ You Very Much)"
