A few questions:
I'm surprised to hear that you are having some difficulties with Boreanaz's likeness, since you "cast" him as Jason Blood for BOTD. Does Boreanaz have to approve his likeness, as with the Star Trek books?
How much post-production computer work will be employed (outside of coloring, of course) in general? I know I'm going to want to buy at least a page or 2 of the pencils, so I'd probably aim for one that looks the most like the printed page.
Do you find it odd to be switching gears between this mini and a regular pencil/ink book like CREW?

I "cast" Boreanaz as Jason, but as in all such cases I didn't go after a
likeness. Just a feeling.
As to the art. . .
Here's a side-by-side comparison (with a Spoiler panel deleted.)
The place where I have found the "switching" most evident is in the inking
on some recent commission pieces. Since they are black and white, whereas
CREW will be color, I find myself wanting to coax some of the same effects I
get with the pencil out of my pen and brush.

Personally, I think the effect of colouring the pencils will be a sweet reward all its own... and one that, judging by the delicious previews so far, may very well pay off in oodles.
JB - When I see pages like the one just posted, I feel like I want to urge you to just tell oodles of stories in historical settings like that. But then again, I bow to your variety of strengths, because after reading any particularly SF oriented story of yours (or seeing a picture of the like), I'd be just as likely to feel like urging you to just tell that type of story.
Or put much shorter: I am utterly in awe of the span genres you truly master..

Sweet page! The lack of panel borders on the original do not bother me in the least. In fact, I think I prefer it that way. I look forward to owning such unique pieces!

Technically, because I draw right to the edge of the panels, on the
unbordered pages you'll be getting about .5% more art!
I should also mention that, in order to make the snow effects work, I am
scanning the pencils somewhat lighter than they actually are, and darkening
them when I gray the page. This is also the case on pages without snow,
since I don't want to waste time resetting the scanner for each page.
So on the actual pages, the pencils are slightly darker than the image on the
left, slightly lighter than the one on the right.

One of the fun things about projects like this is that I can get my "costume
fix" without actually drawing anyone in a superhero suit. Because the
regular street clothes are different from what we wear (mostly), I can
exercise that part of my brain without the capes and leotards.
Same thing with the STAR TREK projects.

Well, I've yet to read your Star Trek stuff, since I opted for waiting for the TPBs... though, I couldn't keep myself from adding the first Alien Spotlight: Romulans to an order I recently placed at Mile High Comics (one of many recently that's mostly consisted of older* JB stuff)
* Read already published, no longer in the news section, as the material also includes She-Hulk (first 8 issues), OMAC, Generations 3, Lab Rats, Marvel: The Lost Generation, X-Men Hidden Years (what I hadn't already obtained), Fourth World (think I've *knock on wood* managed to scare up everything but # 2 & 3).

Something quite odd has been happening with the ANGEL project. As I
mentioned upthread, I went out and bought myself several books about the
time and place, the clothes, the vehicles, the weapons, the uniforms.
Yet I find I have hardly been looking at them! And when I do, I find that
what I already have in my head is "close enough for comics".
It's really weird. I have found myself slipping into France, circa 1917, as if I
was working from actual memories. And I have not seen that many
WW1 movies!

JB, I am loving these pencil sneak peaks and cannot wait for the finished product. Can you specify what type of paper you are using for the work? Something with a bit more tooth?
