Looking good, JB. Love history, Angel, and your work. Can't miss for me.
Thanks for the sneak peeks.

The more I see, the more eager I get to see the final product, JB!
I've been very intrigued by World War I history and literature for quite some
time--especially the Trench Poets, and I can't wait to see what you do with
Angel with that backdrop.

I hope that the colors do the pencils justice.

Small warning again: this won't be a history textbook! I'm using WWI as my
backdrop, and as much as possible I'm getting clothing and vehicles and
such-like right. But don't expect dates you can reference or anything like
that!

My brother (who's an artist) is a stickler for that sort of thing (uniforms, tanks, weapons). He's always critical of movies for it (that and the quality of CGI). I don't mind as long as you have the "feel" of the era and no glaring errors. You're researching stuff though. It often seems like others don't bother.

Damn, I can't wait to buy this one. I'm beside myself about whether or not it should be colored. Maybe the eventual TPB can feature some original B&W pencils?
And you are doing a great job with this, JB. Really making use of the pencil-only medium. I wonder if any lessons learned here can somehow carry over into future pencil and ink work somehow?
And does it feel strange to switch gears between doing this and regular pencil/ink work and back again?

The biggest difference between this and the color work -- which I suspect is
obvious on the sample pages -- is that I am NOT taking advantage of the
nearly infinite palette we have these days. I want the gray tones doing the
work, as with the Duo-Shade.

The pages is beautiful. I really hope you can achieve what you want with the color direction you want to try. I am waiting for this. Any dates?

I'm late to this party, but VERY excited to see it happening! Woohoo! Can't wait to see this! The previews look great! (Have I used enough exclamation points?)

Not likely, Al. I've seen enough to know they're not my bag. I understand why they are popular, however. Maybe it's because of the horrendous overexposure of vampires in the fantasy media, particularly during the last two decades.
Vampires and zombies ... I can live without either, in any form of media ... for a good few years. And don't get me started on heroic werewolves! :)
