Not sure it's really something you're missing, but I do think it's the non-hetero thing lies behind this particular blindness. I guess there ought to have been a subtext added: "For gay people and women: insert picture of hunk of choice."
And apologies for not having included a link to something hunky... just don't want to offend you gays and gals with a possibly flawed view of what's hunky. :)
