Although I think that Steve Oliff is a great colorist, and he did a good job
with these originals, IMHO, to alter this way an historic original like these is a
sacrilege! John Papandrea owns both pages.

I think that this plate of the 1980 Marvel calendar was already posted before
in this thread, but not as original art. Its owner is "AKA AKA".
Here you'll find a bigger image.

Holy Crap !!

Why would someone have the original pages colored ?!?!?!?!?!

Why not just get 1:1 scale xerox copies and have them colored ???

Pains me to see those colored pages.

(nice coloring job, though)

Steven, I'm afraid that to color original art by Oliff was a common practice in
the 80s. I don't want to rub salt on the wound, but what about this another
page?

This is the plot of Avengers 183. At least, one side of the sheet. The rest of
the plot is in the another side. It's for sale at Anthony's Collectibles.

Since I posted before the cover of Marvel Age 2, here's an image of the
original. A pity that I didn't have a hires scan of it when I had to clean the
scan of the comic for the cover of the first book...

It was sold for 12k.

BTW, Albert Moy had ALL the original art from AF #1 for months offered for
trade, and it looks that finally it got traded.

At first I thought you refered to the pieces I colored for the spanish
books! What a relief to learn that you meant the original art colored! Wew!
;-)

A fellow collector send me this extract od a interview to JB where he
talked about his collecion of original art. Since it was done public, I'll post
it here. I just hope that JB don't get mad for this, but I thought that it was
really interesting although he talk in generic way of the pieces.

JB: Well. . . .
--I have my "Kirby Wall", of course, which is the wall above the
stairs behind by drawing board (the main room of my studio is
actually a large landing at the top of the "servants stairs".) There
I have such things as 4 pages from FF (inks my Dick Ayers, Joe
Sinnott and Steve Ditko -- not all on the same pages!), couple of
HULK pages, page from X-MEN, page from SGT. FURY (with Captain
America), TWO GUN KID page, CAPTAIN AMERICA page (inked by Sinnot,
w/Black Panther), CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN page and SKY
MASTERS
Sunday (inks by Wally Wood), an OMAC page, and a FOREVER PEOPLE
page.
Slopping over onto other walls I have a pencil piece of Cap, Bucky and
the Red Skull, and under my drawing board, in a large portfolio (with
other stuff to be mentioned in a moment) I have a whole issue of
SUPER POWERS, including cover, all *uninked*. --Also in that
portfolio is the entire "MAD Comic Opera" by Wally Wood and
an 8 page QUESTION story by Alex Toth. I also have the cover to that
story, framed.

--Then, moving around the walls (and in no particular order), 2 Batman
commision pieces by Dick Sprang, 3 Joe Kubert HAWKMAN pages, several
pages of Neal Adams including BATMAN, 2 BRAVE & BOLD, WITCHING
HOUR
and X-MEN pieces, plus a DOOMSDAY + 1 pinup he did for CHARLTON
BULLSEYE, a couple of Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, including a really neat
SUPERMAN page, two SPIDER-MAN pages by Ditko, a pencil drawing of
Superman by Curt Swan, two of the double-page spreads from SUPERMAN
vs THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN by Ross Andru, plus a METAL MEN page by
Ross, a Don Heck AVENGERS page, a Carmine Infantion FLASH page, a
Jack Davis EC war comic page (can't remember which one), a pencil
head shot of Superman by Joe Shuster, two HEROS THE SPARTAN
spreads and a DAN DARE page by Frank Bellamy, a Wayne Boring
SUPERMAN
page, a Superman newspaper strip parody by Wally Wood (from MAD), a
page from SERGIO ARAGONES DESTROYS THE DC UNIVERSE (inked by
Sergio
and me), 2 Berni Wrightson SWAMP THING pages (one with Batman), a
Gene Colan HOWARD THE DUCK page, a page from the DUCK b&w mag
by
Michael Golden, a Bob Brown SUPERBOY page (inked by Woody), a John
Romita Jr. IRON MAN page (from when I was writing the book), a June
Brigman POWER PACK pin up, a Russ Hearth SGT. ROCK page, a Brian
Bolland JUDGE DREDD page, a Frank Robbins INVADERS page (inked
by Frank Springer), a DICK TRACY Sunday by Chester Gould, a TERRY AND
THE PIRATES Sunday by George Wunder, a PRINCE VALIANT script/layout
page by Hal Foster, a POGO Sunday by Walt Kelly, a LITTLE ANNIE
FANNIE page by Will Elder (including Harvey Krutzman's layout.script
page) and, waiting to be framed, various pages by Frank Miller, Dave
Gibbons, Walt Simonson, Mike Mignola, Gil Kane, George Perez, Stan
Drake, and Leonard Starr --And, of course, the absolute **prize** of
my collection, the WONDER WOMAN/COOKIE LaMOO Twinkie Ad by Curt
Swan!!!
--And, yes, I DO have an alarm system in my house.

This is a Starlord homage. I know that the prelim and the cover of the
reprint is old news for you, but maybe you could find interestind the
comparative of the cover by Ken Barr.

That prelim is begging to be finished! Maybe someday...

From Jim Warden's collection:

"John Byrne pencilled this piece in 2001; according to the editorial
comments on the reverse, it was done as a style guide for "Movie World
Madrid"; Jose Luis Garcia Lopez inked the piece on a separate board."

This is the site of Movie world
Madrid, a Warner Bros theme park near Madrid.

A Capi illustration by JB from the 70s. It was auctioned in eBay last year.
