Both Mary Janes look the same to me except the reprint looks better because it's sharper and has much better color.

Hmmm, oh well. I guess we have still to see that original panel color-corrected. The retouched panel looks nice, though.

There's a number of small changes -- like the lines that define the bottom of the eye. On the original, Romita drops them out.
They both look nice...I just don't see how one could say they look the same?

They do look the same to me, maybe I'm just not that sharp-eyed.

Let's see…
Picture is slightly streched vertically
Outlines are thicker
Brush work on the hair is thicker and looks muddy
Charcoal make-up four decades before Gothic trend
Waist, arm and breast curves modified for no reasons
Garish color changes for the trouser and the jacket !
That's too much for one panel to my taste. It sucks !
Compare to the job DC did on the Fourth World Omnibus.

A more accurate depiction, and this is just working from the low-res jpg
scanned here.

I really don't like it either. No wonder I never buy any hardcover reprints no matter how good of a deal they are. The newsprint version always has finer detail and more range to it. If they're gonna make archival version why not spend the extra time as to make them the ultimate, most perfect version yet? Anyway, I'll post panels later tonight to get this back on track.
