That is one of the worst panels of dialog I've ever seen (not Johns, the MA Bendis one!)  I'm seeing similar comments browsing other comic boards.  Few people seem to care much for it, let alone think that it's "a classy example of everything a comic book should be."  Maybe they can do a special edition and replace the word balloon with the contents of the above one. :)

I really hope that piece of dialogue is meant to be an indication that Dr. Doom is a Skrull... ---- Taavi Suhonen

or a Doombot with bad wiring.

Maybe BENDIS is a Skrull.

That Doom panel is horrible.  I suppose the Byrne-bashers and fan-boys thinks it's a classy example of everything a comic book should be.

Talk in sweeping generalizations shall we.
Based on his behaviour on this board, JB could be considered a fanboy.

Not as the term is used 'round these parts.

Well, that would certainly answer a lot of questions!

Excellent one-panel tutorial on how to write Doom's dialogue, JB.

"Low-rent" dialogue is an excellent turn of phrase.

It's what's killing Starling's "Death of the New Gods" among other things.

Bendis doesn't know how to write that panel.  Doom wouldn't use the words like "whore", "fat", and "cow-mouth".  How did Bendis get this writing job?

JB's example of Doom's speech was better.  At least, Doom sounds like Doom.

As a fan of both Byrne and Bendis I truly hope that Bendis's dialogue is meant to indicate that Doom has been replaced by a Skrull. Doom is the Harold Bloom of supervillians. He is supposed to be cultured, witty and arrogant-with a false sense of nobility. Anything less is not Doom.

Not a very smart Skrull if that's the case.

Yes, you are right.  If that's an impostor, he's not doing a good job.
