Recently I came across a "blog" that was dissecting my work looking for "inaccuracies". This was deemed necessary, according to the bloghead writing it, because I had made negative comments about a particular title based on the "inaccuracies" to be found there. Sauce for the goose, then.

Thing is, while I had, indeed, made some negative comments about that title, none of them had been about any "inaccuracies" it might have contained. I had been using the title as the basis for one of my rants about internal consistency, which is not at all the same thing as "accuracy".

So, as we have seen so many times now, somebody was off titling at my windmill because of something he thought I'd said, and despite the fact that everything I'd written was still there to be read, had not bothered to check the source. Speaking of inaccuracies.

When I read the dialogue I was reminded of the Angel episodes from end of season 2 when they were in Pylea. The  "cow-mouth" phrase etc. Apparently in the Bendisverse Doom watches the Buffy and Angel shows and tries to use the cool whedonesque phrases in "real life".

I really hope that piece of dialogue is meant to be an indication that Dr. Doom is a Skrull, but having read recent comics, I fear my hope is in vain.

You know, I only read that Mighty Avengers panel with Doom the other week and yet had managed to forget that truly awful bit of dialogue but now it's all coming crushing back to me. :(

Nice Bagley art though.

Someone buy BMB a thesaurus please.

"You're a fat piece of furniture..." Is it wrong to find that line hilariously bad?

No, it's okay. It really is bad.

How about : "You're not a guest, Ms Marvel, you're a conversation piece. Your friends might find some use for you and agree to a trade. Your silence will ensure that this remains a possibilty. " (okay, so its not a perfect phrasing of the same content, but it only took 3 minutes.)

But most importantly, it at least resembles something Doom might actually say.  I mean, how can any editor with any passing knowledge of Dr. Doom allow a writer to put those low-rent words in his mouth?*

Mike

*Unless it really is supposed to be a tip-off that Doom is a Skrull.
