I just came back from lunch and figured I'd check out the Forum... when I saw the title of the thread I thought this might be my latest illo. WOW! This surpassed my highest hopes and I can't wait to see the original when Scott and I make our trip to JB's on Saturday! Many thanks to JB for making another one of this fanboy's dreams come true!!

Jim, this is a great gift, and a wonderful commission. Congratulations. This is the best best Doom I've seen. Just fantastic.

I am stunned by the magnificent detail . . . . the gun, the crushed velvet on the back of the seat behind Doom's head, the cracks in the brickwork, the candle smoke, the gargoyle (?) footrest, the "D", the eagle-like motif on the throne, Doom's expression, posture (attitude!), the cowl, cloak/belt and armor ! WOW !
Addendum: And the skull ensconced in the arch in the left background !

This is the first time I've seen a commicion piece that made me say:
"That is gonna fetch HUGE money somewhere down the road."
"You know what's going up on auction? The Byrne Doom!" I can see it.
The others are fantastic, dynamic artworks, but this is a true masterpiece.
Congratulations to all who see it in person.
JB, you are awesome.

Looking at the throne, it seems like John is still in a gargoyle mood, which is fine by me, since his gargoyles have been amazing

Absolutely fantastic. Jim is one lucky guy. Love the creature that Dr. Doom has his foot on. The detail is stunning.

Jim, do you have a frame in mind for the piece? Will you place the work on the wall in your office or den?
