To Greg Kirkman:
I know you idolize Mr. Byrne and all but could you please stop being his lapdog. I see this with fans on this board who do a complete turnaround on a subject or they wait until Mr. Byrne gives his opinion on something and then post so they choose the same side as him. Its very pathetic.
Its like that kid on the Twilight Zone movie who had unlimited superpowers so the people that lived with him were afraid to express any opinion other than what the kid said.
I'm sure that Mr. Byrne doesn't want people who just agree with everything he says. Otherwise, it would be a pretty boring board.
Kirkman, you quietly give your condolences. Then Byrne speaks up with a differing opinion and then you feel all brave and start speaking out against this guy.
Show some balls next time. Post your controversial opinion BEFORE Byrne posts.
++++++++
His forum, his rules. I'm not going to go around accusing people of things unless there's some precedent from the owner of this forum.
And I am not a lapdog. JB and I have respectfully disagreed many times on many topics.
But thank you for your input.

JB: Are some going to grab hold of this now and run around shouting and
screaming with it? Of course. They have nothing else to do with their
lives. There is nothing I can do about it, and I am not even going to
contemplate guarding my words against any such possible actions. What
would be the point?
You know this little scene is going to be cross-posted on at least a dozen other message boards and will likely be reported on by Rich Johnson. You also know there's no way you'll look good in all this, and in this current market and audience, this will cost your books sales. This in exchange for the momentary satisfaction of railing against some stranger otherwise irrelevant to your life on a message board.

I do not like the use of someone's personal loss to make a point in an argument. (That's putting aside the suspicious nature of the timing which is probably coincidental.)
I wouldn't. Would you?
I didn't post because I keep my head down on the internet. (Too many clowns and sociopaths) JB, however (for his personal good or ill) does not.
I felt like saying: "Hey, I agree with his point." When someone stands up and gives a (maybe unpopular opinion) surely he needs to be backed by those that agree?
Otherwise it's like Gary Cooper in High Noon.
I hope (God, how wierd it is to be saying THIS) that Gregg's loss is genuine and he merely was just not thinking straight. On the other hand, I hope that I wouldn't do my mother's love and respect such a disservice by using her in an argument about children's comic books.

Exactly how I feel.

First post in three weeks, and you accuse Greg Kirkman of waiting for someone else to point the way before speaking his mind?
********
I don't agree with you on this opinion you've taken on Gregg's mother's passing but I see it far too often where people wait for you to express yours and then pile on.

Victor, it happened this past year on the forum. I won't give the guy any more publicity by naming him again.

John Byrne, you'd think he might care. Oh, not about Rich Johnston and his libelous blog, rather about the way he treats his fans. But no, it's just another example of how everyone is "out to get him", and he's the "victim". Bad Byrne stories are only a myth perpetuated by the sadboys. Except all the dozens and dozens that aren't. It's hard to imagine the staggering lack of self-awareness and tact unless you see it for yourself. OK, if it's not true, it's not true...but if it is, you've just shat upon someone who came here and opened up a bit to people he's come to "know" in some way.

Apparently our gracious host, considering the amount of time he's spent
over the years decrying the actions of Sad Boys and rumor-mongerers. To
quote JB himself, "the sad boys on the internet and the
self-fulfilling prophets in the shops have won. My current career is a
shadow of its former self -- brought down almost entirely by lies."

Jesus, who the hell cares? As JB so rightly pointed out above, Greg
Hakecki has been on the mod-radar for a while now. Even if this mother
thing is true, he probably did something else to deserve the treatment
he's now getting, wouldn't you say?
