My father passed away late last year. Even though I was very close to
my father, if there is a devil (which is what Mephisto is supposed to
represent at Marvel, hence that name), I would never make a deal with
such a being. Again, if there is a devil, there would be nothing truly
good to come out of such a deal. The devil isn't supposed to be a great
guy, and there's always a catch. Besides, I am definitely certain that
my father, who had strong beliefs in regard to religion, wouldn't
approve.

Nor do I think May would have approved of this. I doubt many would argue also that this decision was out of character for MJ as well. While that last point could be argued sure, to go one further and deal with Mephisto to become a tights wearing super heroine is completely NOT MJ - what with everything she struggled to accept about Peter being Spidey etc... regardless of her expecting to be single again and maybe alone I still cannot believe for one minute that request was an MJ trait! Talk about killing many birds with one stone; Spidey, MJ, Continuity, Love of Marvel, Credibility... A fan-boy fix - the worst kinda fix...

No. Sorry, but no. I fully appreciate how much "trouble" I will get into for
this, but no. I cannot let this pass without comment.
Using the only hours past death of your own mother to make a point about a
comicbook story?
There are not sufficient words in the English language to properly express
my disgust.

No offence to Gregg, but I view Internet Deaths in a very similar fashion to Comic Book ones. It's worth not investing too much into it as you never know when it will be retconned.
Which means alas, that the genuine sufferers being tarred with the same brush.

"...there was no despite about it."
I think you misunderstood my post, John. I was referring to Peter Parker as a college student, which definitely made him older than his target audience (like you discovering the character at age 13). I was responding to Dave Phelp's claim that Spider-Man only became Marvel's flagship character once he left high school behind.
