Are you iron-clad, 100% certain that Pat is a troll, Thom?

***

Confident enough to stand by my assessement.  At best, he's someone who joined the forum and yet out of the dozens, if not hundreds, of discussions since his join date the only thing that prompted him to participate is an opportunity to call out JB?  Color me unimpressed.

This thread makes me sad :(  I love both John Byrne's and Erik Larsen's stuff.  I don't care to worry about whether or not they like each other, but some people have to know I guess...  In a perfect world by-gones would be by-gones and the two could collaborate on a new Spider-Man title.  (well, my perfect world anyways!)

Apparently, I misspoke. Threads that have been deleted by JB are no longer at the old site, but there is no automatic wipe out at the old place like there seems to be here. Threads go back about three years here, then seem to go away. March 2005 to the present still exist, but almost nothing is left of threads from 2004. Far as that "Public Apology to Erik Larsen" thread goes, it has been deleted at some point, but pieces still exist in google cache, or someone saved that first post. What's the next post about, if you can recall JB?

Crazy? Yes. Stupid? Absolutely.

Old? No.

Fair enough, Glenn, you're right about that.  I think it adds a perception of "older" though, one that doesn't fit Spider-Man.  If, as others have suggested, it just happened and was done, never referred to again, I guess it would have been as good a fix as any.

I'm glad Dan Slott finally poked his head into this thread. While I thought the journey to get to Brand New Day was flawed (I'm being kind), I really am enjoying the new direction of Amazing.

If someone is a troll they'll reveal themselves to be so in due time without
the help of anyone else's assumptions about them.

And if they're not a troll, or not a pseudonym for someone who has
posted and/or behaved questionably in the past, then assumptions about
them only serve to make the one doing the assuming look like a grade A
jerk.

And if the assumption proves correct? Well yippie-skippy for you.
Pettiness wins again, and that's when you can colour me unimpressed.
The trolls are their own kind of stupid - we don't need to pile stupid on
top.

Since the underlying reason for trolling is a pathetic attempt to gain
attention, why hand it to them?

Nobody loses when you give the benefit of the doubt.

I've played this both ways myself, and I've never regretted being the
"bigger man".

For someone who just got so angered over being called a liar you seem quite ready to call Ray one.

••

"So angered"? You must tell me where you got the emotion-detector for your computer. Such a thing would come in handy, 'round here.

Funny thing -- when I have "no dog in that fight" I don't rush to Google to seek out fun things I can use to, you know, join the "fight". I just, oh, stay out of the "fight".

So, yeah. Baloney.

And, seriously, dewd -- as other point out, you joined the Forum last month and this is the thread you choose to start posting in? And in half a dozen posts whip out your hairshirt?

Pretty sad.

Thankfully, that's all he was whipping out...
