As usual, Bruce's opinion about Spider-Man stories is the same as mine.
One more day is bad. Extremely bad. But what could we expect by those guys who wrote Spider-Man in these years? I'll forget Omd and the previous storylines and I'll enjoy the Brand new day, hoping it can be eternal. In my mind, Spider-Man comics weren't released after ASM ANNUAL 2001 and before ASM #546.

That's how I've been viewing it! You can read it like it took place right after the Stalker guy disappeared.
Howard had MJ walk away after the story and noone got angry or up in arms. It was a nice send off and a clean breaking point.
What really makes me scratch my head is if Quesada loathed the marriage as much as he says, why was MJ brought back from LA?

I enjoyed Slott's 3-parter but was underwhelmed by the art.
The previews I've seen of Phil Jimenez's stuff is...disappointing. I'm not picking it up.

Todd, I did skipped the OMD arc. And I have enjoyed the BND a lot. Like it was a continuation of the Sipder-Man I was reading pre-wedding!
I may continue with the series!

I have browsed through the OMD issues, and they are well drawn and seem to have a hint of that fun I like about Spider-Man. I'd love for this character to be revitalized for the younger and newer readers, but bottom-line? OMD endorses the concept that pacts with Satan are okay if you're desperate enough. There are many other ways they could have made the change.
You know? Every interview I read involving Quesada has him quoting something like "Sure there's commotion with the fans regarding <event>, but a lot of people write in saying how much they love this, and why has it taken so long for us to do this." I want names... who ARE these people? Lots of Laughs!

Ithching to get a taste of Brand New Day and my monthly order more than a week away I ventured forth into a comic book store on Thursday (first time since June last year) and picked Swing Shift, the reprint of the Free Comic Book Day story by Dan Slott and Phil Jiminez:
What a jolly fun read. The back up stuff was interesting as well although Tom Brevoort's manifesto (written in 2006!) did make me wonder if the original plan was to have Brand New Day come out in tandem with Spider-Man 3.

Was just pondering, Spider-Man and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto. Supposedly this deal has adjusted their lives to some point where they are different people than they were when they made the deal.
So my question, are these the same people who made the deal or have the changes made them so different that these people aren't the ones who made the deal?

I just told my wife that I made a deal with this fellow who looked like the Devil (since no such creature can actually exist of course), and that to save the life of my Aunt he's fixed it so our marriage never happened.
I thing the bruises will fade in a few days.

I've made it known in certain infernal circles that I would gladly sacrifice an elderly aunt or two to gain a hot, red-headed, super-model wife!
No answer so far...but I have faith!

Looks like Barry Kitson's joining the Amazing Spider-Man fun in May and then with another arc later on.
