Brad Danson:
Anybody after McNiven on this book is going to be a step down. _________________________________________________
Really? I can list several artists who I think would be much better. I'm not a big McNiven fan, though. I don't think his art's terrible, but it just doesn't get me all that excited.

McNiven's art isn't as "comic-booky", for lack of a better term, than the art I grew up with in Spider-Man. But I like it - these pages look great and the story seems like a return to the good ol' days of Spider-Man.
For all the hard feelings about "One More Day," it looks like this really might be a bright new beginning for the Web-Slinger.

And the firs thing I notice is how impressively LONG the credits have gotten.
Wow, that's certainly true. Do all of these guys give their input into the final product? Amazing.....

I think this might be true too. I just wish we could've gotten to this point without the car wreck that was OMD. I don't understand why they haven't had creators who are as obviously enthused to be on the title as the ones who make up "Spidey's Brain-Trust" in so long.

My feelings exactly. He draws well, but it doesn't want to make me continue reading. His stuff just doesn't strike me as very dynamic.

McNiven has a very nice look to his art... but his storytelling isn't overwhelming and got confusing for me in a few areas of this 3 parter.

I've read a friend's copies of the first two issues, but not the third. (Not even sure if he got it or not.) I'm still not sold. Haven't seen anything that's remarkably "better" than anything else in the past 10, 15, 20 years. And, that whole "deal with the devil" thing is still a sticking point with me.
Still nothing to convince me to spend my money on it, and I imagine the latest issue will be the deciding point on whether or not to spend any more time on it.

It's a problem I see in a lot of artists these days. The work is very, very
good (as we see here), but sort of lifeless. The idea of panels as
"snapshots" has been taken to the extreme -- they are snapshots with a
high-speed camera, so there is not a whisper of movement to be seen.
Everything is froze in amber.
These guys need to spend a weekend looking at nothing but Neal Adams.
He was a master of photorealism, but he also knew how to make the
characters move. He drew not what it would look like, but
what it should look like.
