Hi Stephane,

Thanks for uploading those couple of pages, but I have to agree with Mark.
There's nothing on either of those scans that makes me go "Wow, I've got to
find out what happened before that / what happens next!"

As a contrast, Mike Grell has posted online 12 installments (60-plus
pages!) from his forthcoming "Jon Sable Freelance: Ashes of Eden" series at
ComicMix.com, with more to come. That is some of the best comics work
I've read in ages. (Warning: There is some nudity in the piece that may not
be appropriate for all readers.)

Thanks for the link, Matthew!  Grell's stuff looks as good as ever.  I wish that he got more work in the mainstream, but I like Jon Sable, too.  I hope they do collect it in a trade.

"Hey! Footnotes are back!"

---

So what happens when an there's a footnote to an issue that takes place
while Peter and MJ are married? Won't that create confusion?

Then again, how did DC handle this sort of thing?

Re: the comments on Harry's stud in his right earlobe...that really doesn't signify gay like it did in year's past.

Why would there be?

Because all those stories "happened", just not the way we remember them.

Then presumable a footnote to those issues would have to include some
kind of reference to what was changed, right? Seems easier to avoid
footnotes. They're not auto-installing, after all!

Dunno - that's the mess they've created for themselves and I don't think there's a right answer!

Ah, would that footnotes were auto-installing!... Footnotes were the first introduction I had to specific issue numbers and the concept of back issues. Footnotes were an intrinsic part of the whole comic-reading experience for me, back in the day.
Given the nature of the reboot Marvel is attempting with "One More Day," however, I agree that referencing the now wallpapered-over stories would be a mistake.

I only hope they don't do as DC insisted upon doing, again and again, and try to publish amended versions of how those stories "actually" went in the new continuity.  "Here's what happened in 'The Other' now that Peter and MJ were never together as a married couple.  Here's the new, real version of 'Kraven's Last Stand' since the first one is no good anymore. Here's the Clone Saga, all over again, but different now, 'cause everything is different!  And always has been!!  Wait, wait, we're sure you're dying to know how "Sins Past" went if Harry was also in Europe at the time it was all going down!  Well, we're glad you asked...!!!"

Also, the "Harry Osborn as Satan's agent-on-Earth" thing seems painfully obvious to me.  Of course, it's not Harry we're seeing so much as it's Harry-by-way-of-Michael-Rosenbaum's-Luthor...
Still, it is nice to be talking about Spidey again as if it's the character himself and not a grotesquely-distorted, "darker, edgier" version... So, does this mean he doesn't have giant arm-pincers anymore and a link to the totemic-field which enables him to telepathically share awareness with the world's insect population?  Of which spiders are not a member?

Well he got the spider-talk ability after the Insect Queen dominatrix character tied him up and kissed him and turned him into a huge spider* in "Spider-man Dissassembled".

(* That died, split open and revealed a new Peter with bio webs. Before the Other.)

And Hank Pym can do it. I guess. With a helmet. Or something.

In "the Other" Spider-Man lost an eye, passed out, woke up in the hospital to Mary Jane getting assaulted by Morlun as she tried in vain to defend him, hissed, grew drippy cyrstaline looking wrist spikes, got up, killed Morlun, ate his head, died in Mary Jane's arms, molted out of his corpse leaving a husk behind, crawled off and pupated in a cocoon (unspider-like) chased his husky remains around which apparently taught him to read vibrations on web.* Then Doctor Light raped him, Batman ignored him, and Maxwell Lord shot him in the head. I think...

* (vibration sensing and interpretaion was how his spider sense was sometimes explained previously anyway since the ^^***** bullpen found out about setae. Heck before the bio-webs Peter's powers, aside from the enhanced strength, balance, reflexes, and metabolism was...having two types of specialized hairs. Shoulda' called him Hair-Man maybe. )

Was this the same exoskeletal domme who's currently giving Superman the business over in Busiek's title...?  Did she have a similar speech impediment?  Studies show that a lot of dommes get into the life to overcome presumed shortcomings and deficits...

Thanks for the update on Spidey's ever-increasing array of amazing spider-powers, Emery!  How about that Batman, eh?  What a jerk...
