Dave: "Tim, you should have spoken your opposition back then..."

****

Dave, I feel like you're not reading what I'm posting. As I said, I don't think it's wrong that I didn't read every post. On top of that, I was off the forum for a personal emergency. Because of the nature of a message board, especially during the holidays, it's unfair and presumptuous of you to say I should speak up when I was unable. Anyone could be off the forum and not be able to speak up. You're projecting your own ability to follow every thread at the time. And this is why it's inhgerently a bad idea for someone to go off and do this.

When you say "I guess that would have been unpopular at the time" to speak up, your assuming something I wouldn't even think. Why would anyone care about "popularity" in regard to something as grave and serious as this? I would not think that way - I don't know where you're picking that up.

Gregg's brother being fine with it is wonderful - he seems like as good a man as his brother. But it speaks to my concerns here - people not familiar with a forum like this may assume we can indeed have one representative. Having participated in this forum, I know it's not true. I was concerned the family may not see that distinction.

So, what about those Spider-Man comics that I no longer read. Are they any
good?

This thread has apparently gone on too long because the discussion has
wandered completey off-topic, but in an attempt to get it back to Spider-
Man, let me add that I always thought the easiest way to get rid of the
marriage without death/divorce/Mephisto, is to just establish that the
minister who did the vows way back when was in fact, the Chameleon, as
part of some nefarious scheme only now being revealed! Thus, the marriage
though it took place, was illegal and they've actually been single all these
years!

Not sure how you'd get Spidey's secret identity back, though...

I actually think the Brand New Day stuff isn't half bad.  I'm still curious about some of the things that were changed (that should be a good thing, yes?), and while I'm not much of a McNiven fan, his art hasn't put me off.  I'll keep buying, which is something I haven't been able to say about Spider-Man comics in quite awhile.

On other topics, Brian Talley is the real deal.  Hell, I slept with him!

In the same room, that is...

I had no idea there was such a thing as a Richard Nixon Denialist.

Not sure if you're intentionally missing what Tim is saying or not, Dave.  He's said, on several occasions in this thread, that he didn't read every single post by every single member in every single thread during the time he wasn't a mod.  The opportunity only presents itself when one is aware of the opportunity.  If one is not, there is no opportunity to be aware of and, therefore, you can't tell Tim he should have responded at the time.

He wasn't required or expected to read every single post by every single member in every single thread, now or then, and we weren't discussing that, just this one thread. I didn't read every single post or even every single thread when I was a mod either. What I am now coming to understand, is that in that thread, Tim didn't read Frank's posts, or Brian Allinson's after the first one, or any of the posts that discussed Frank's offer to attend the memorial service, otherwise he would have been aware of the matter at that time. He read Bob's post, as he responded to it later in the thread, but he must have missed others at the time. So, I was wrong, and I apologize. He must not have had the opportunity to respond at the time, as he was not aware. I'm trying to leave Tim alone on this matter now, if that's okay.

Totally fine, Dave.  I felt compelled to correct an assumption on your part, which is the reason I responded.
