For EIC: every name I can think of is of someone who has passed away.

Man, I learn something new every day here at The house that Byrne built...I have to admit that I am curious and will be spending a portion of my day seeking out more information...

I wonder if Al Milgrom would take the job after all that happened.

Milgrom's an interesting name to suggest. I thought he did a nice job as an editor way back when. He definitely lined up some interesting work for Marvel Fanfare. Plus, I seem to remember he had an eye for talent -- Wasn't he one of the first to hire Paul Smith, Norm Breyfogle, Kevin Nowlan, and Mike Mignola? I don't know how he'd do overseeing the whole line, but i'd like to see him do at least a few books.

The problem with threads like this is that Marvel thinks that they are better than ever. They are making more money than ever, the movies have expanded their appeal and brought them more merchandising lucre than ever before. Never underestimate the power of The Schwartz!
Seriously, what is there to fix?

Really? well characterization problem aside....
Comics in todays market place are not marketed to the original Audience...Kids... Instead they are written for and made available to and increasingly insular group of fans....
The market needs to be broken open and made accessible to people from the outside...It's about to choke from it's own weight.

Spider-Man is not for children! That's why you can buy kids apparel, underoos, water guns, toys, stickers and chewing gum with his likeness on it, financing his comic book, because he's for adults.

I know it should be obvious, but somehow, someway, this alludes the "hardcore" to this day.

Wallace, I think that once Stan had a full grasp on what had been done to what he helped build, his head would explode.

OK, OK, I'll do it. Just let me know when Marvel ponies up the money.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a house cleaning.
3rd Quarter results are out and everything is up, including publishing which is going on a 7 year consistent increase.
