I think Dave hit the nail on the head when it comes to the Kubert sketches. He is not doing commission work. He is doing this as a fund raiser for his school. I've seen other artists in this situation do lesser sketches and charge more money. Plus, those artist usually do all (insert number) of the sketches in advance so you get whatever is sent to you. Sometimes just a small variation of the same pose. I think the opportunity to get a Kubert sketch is very rare and didn't think twice about ordering. Just keep in mind that he is more likely to do a character he is famous for, not characters he hasn't worked on.

I asked for Tarzan or Hawkman but my request didn't show up in the
comments section on the order page so that might explain why I got a
Batman. I wasn't disappointed.

And, yes, I'll post it later.

I can understand some of the pause that some have had in regards to ordering a Kubert piece. When I asked Paul for the information, all of the pieces that I had come across on the boards here were mainly headshots. And I understood that one could ask for a  character, but that ultimately it was up to Joe himself. So, I went online and ordered 2 books(asking for a GA Hawkman with cowl and Hawkgirl headshots) and tossed chance to the wind. To have gotten a Hawkman headshot would be satisfying in and of itself. But then to arrived on delivery day and find that I recieved not only a Hawkman headshot but also a Hawkman full figure left me in bliss. I freely admit my jaw headed right to the floor and I was sent back to the day when I was kid that I first saw his Hawkman in a ratty old copy of Hawkman at my local barber shop.         & nbsp;  If the price and the unknown of what he will do keeps you from buying one, I can understand and accept that reason. But remember this might be the only time many of us will ever get to achieve an original sketch from Joe Kubert, a true master of the medium.  Best of luck to anyone who is giving it a try this week. Brian

I could resist no more.  I ordered the kubert book with a sketch.  I noticed we are getting dangerously close to 100, so I hope I made it.

Gerry, the Hembeck pieces are terrific.  What great ideas for commissions.  I am looking forward to seeing the others.

Here's the latest one I got.  It is a variation of the Batman/Captain America piece he did recently.  I like the way he drew Spidey's face and Batman's cape.

Sweet, Wilson!  I really must hunt down some Hembeck comics. This stuff is just soooo great!

Wayne – I must admit that I got a bit disappointed reading that you didn't get your requested Tarzan, as I just before reading your post thought that it'd be great to see a Kubert Tarzan sketch. That said, I'll be looking forward to seeing your Kubert Batman, and I must say that if I'd had the money for it right now (and time wasn't running out on the deal), I'd go for this thing. Heck, the way Kubert draws, he could very well draw a Joe Schmoo Average and I'm sure it'd hit the ball way out of the ballpark.

Nice addition to your Strange collection, Gerry! Must say that I especially enjoy the Hembeck take on Dormammu.

Now somebody just needs to get a Hembeck Defenders. :)

My Batman Family by Hembeck may have been the first of this current wave.  Love yours Gerry.  It would be nice to see them all collected
