Here's something fun I got in Baltimore that I finally got around to scanning, a Sergio doodle he did when he signed my " Mad About Mad!" book.

Wilson-
I personally don't like having art done in sketchbooks (nor, as an artist, am I comfortable doing them in sketchbooks at cons). You end up carrying around way too much $ worth of art, and then they sit with an artist (many of which get nervous having said $$$ book at their table) untill the sketch is finished. Then you have to whisk the book over to another artist... You end up having to bring multiple books (so they can be given to different artits, which is a pain.
Also, one bad marker can ruin alot of art. I've seen it happen in a friend's sketch book. One bad black marker bled yellow acid on at least 3-4 pages before and after the drawing, and would have probably kept going had I not discovered the problem. It's rare, but it does happen. If many of the drawings in a sketchbook cost $40-$100, that's a big risk. A full book could be worth alot of $.
I take 1-2 pads of 11x14 strathmore bristol with me to shows. I give each artist a sheet of the Bristol, along with whatevet refence for the character (along with my name on the ref). After the shows, I put the art in my Itoya art portfolio books. These books are fairly cheap, and come in many sizes. They're great! The Bristol board paper is fairly sturdy, and should survive travleing in the pad it comes in, or between some sheets of cardboard or masonite.

If I didn't already have 2 pieces by Vokes and some more on the way, I'd have made a play for that one myself.  He is a huge talent

Too true about Neil. I am expecting a reinterpretation of my favorite Spidey cover from him in the next few weeks.
