Joe - those letters are just sweet art in and of themselves. Kinda makes me wanna correspond with Maestro Hembeck. ;)
Definitely a nice addition to the actual commission pieces.

I had to get in on this Kubert sketch craze! I put in my order in Sunday from their website and called today to make sure it went through. Turns out the order went through, but my commission request didn't. So, I managed to relay my request over the phone. BTW I was number 92 of 100. Of course, I'll post it when it arrives.

Ron,

How did you manage to scan the piece if it is drawn on the book?  Also, for those whose sketches are in the book, are you removing the pieces and framing?  Thanks

Ari, the front page opens enough to allow it to be placed in the scanner. While it sounds tempting to take the page out and frame it, I have no plans to do so. I think it makes the volume cooler having it on the shelf, pulling it down and looking at the art inside. Personally, I like keeping my stuff in sketchbooks or portfolios. I've only framed less than a dozen pieces of my art.

JB, there are 8 Kubert's left. I'm sure he'd be willing to help out a fellow pro and do a Captain America for ya!

I tried for a Cap Paul, but instead Kubert drew me a Sgt Rock(which I'm thrilled with)

Wow, hard to believe that Joe is nearly done with these.  Most of the sketches posted here have been in the sixties.  Wonder where the other 20 went?

I would hope that he has more fans than just on this message board. Ari, look around the CAF galleries. I've seen more than a few pop up there. Maybe he can get his sons to some for the next fundraiser.

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the commision.  Quite a way for me to break into the world of original art collection.

Question for anyone who has framed or thought about framing their Kubert.  Does the front cover shine through, if so can you combat that by putting a dark matting behind it ?

Not to break up all this Joe Kubert greatness, but here is a sketch I requested from Steve Rude, that I just received today. It was on the inside second page of his limited signed hardcover "Steve Rude Artist in Motion".I am also like Paul, I prefer to leave the art in the book,Joe Kubert's and Steve Rude's books and enjoy them each time I take them down from the bookshelf, most of my art is also in sketchbooks and portfolios.
