Looks a bit anorexic, if we assume someone is supposed to be inside it!

I doesn't look so bad, I hope the helmet is removable !

-----------------------------------------------

I don't really have a problem with it but...

a) why is Iron Man shooting Q-tips?

b) does anyone else notice that Iron Man's got a receding "hairline"?  He's gone from a widow's peak to Jack Nicholson!

Since the thread is on an Iron Man kick right now, I thought I'd post a couple of pic's of the most beautiful Iron Man toy's I've ever seen.  I'm partial to the 8" Mego dolls from back in the day and there's a guy who goes by "Captain Mego" that does custom figures that are amazing.  Charlie Flatt get's a lot attention for his work, but I like this guy's stuff even more.  You can see a lot of these guys at megomuseum.com.

Andy,

Do you know if Captain Mego takes commission requests or if he sells his customs?  Charlee doesn't make enough anymore to feed my need for these - and the ones you posted look pretty damn good.  I need those.

Nevermind.  I found him on the site (it would have helped if they'd listed him as Captain Mego).  Now to find some contact info.  Thanks for the heads up.

WO

In Excelsior!: The Amazing Life of Stan Lee, pages 157-158 of the softcover edition, Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel's Thor, wrote of his intentions. The passage is as follows:

"But how do you make someone stronger than the strongest human? It finally came to me; don't make him a human - make him a god. The notion intruiged me. I certainly had enough gods to choose from. There were Roman gods, Greek gods, and Norse gods, just to name a few. I decided readers were already pretty familiar with the Greek and Roman gods. It might be fun to delve into the old Norse legends ... I picked Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, to headline the book."

There are a few other comments of that nature, but "don't make him a human - make him a god" is the key. That from the co-creator of Marvel's Thor, plus the idea that this same man wrote stories in which Thor was clearly Thor, indicates rather strongly that Stan Lee intended Thor to be that Thor. After all, those comments come from the same guy who wrote Thor as Thor.

••

I love how Stan's memory is held immutable and indisputable by fans -- when they need it to support their argument.

Read the first few Thor stories. The transformed Don Blake refers to the Norse god in the third person, and not just in the "Okay, Spidey, what do you do now…?" style of internal monolog. In his first encounter with Loki, Thor thinks "…the Norse God of Mischief! According to the ancient legends, the most cunning and wicked of all the gods." Odd way to refer to his own half brother!

Pretty soon, he's affecting the "thee" and "thou" speech pattern, when addressing Odin for instance, but while it didn't take long for Stan to decide Thor was the "real" Thor, that is clearly not where he and Jack started.

I bought the Giant-Man bust, armless tho it is, with the Wasp sitting on his
shoulder. It's kind of a token representation, as I didn't like it, as a kid,
when Ant-Man became what I could not help but read as GI Ant-Man.

Is there an Ant-Man statue/bust? (Not an action figure!)
