Yes -- with one provision. Until fairly recently, while artists were allowed to
express their own sensibilities when drawing the character, they were at
least expected to stay "on model" to the extent that an untrained eye,
looking at, say, a Dick Sprang Batman and a Neal Adams Batman, would at
least come away with the impression they were looking at the same
person, not just someone wearing the same costume. Look at the
figures on my "Batman shelf". The only one that really stands apart from the
rest is the most recently acquired movie version. Even the two Alex Ross
figures I have allowed into the array look like Batman, not "fat guy in
Batman costume".

I'd say the older the characters the greater the opportunity for different interpretations of their image. The strength, or weakness of the system is two fold. Editorial decisions and the all mighty dollar. The first is obvious to most, the second simply put is, if the people buy the book with the pretty pictures, different pictures, whatever, they will continue to make it.
I don't think anyone can make the claim that Batman only changed (visually) in recent years. From '39 to today, there's been more changes than I am even aware of, let alone could count. I would say they have been larger changes recently, and that for those reading the longest, harder to accept.

The second MasterReplicas Enterprise I ordered as "insurance" against saggage and disaster turned out to be one of the "autographed" versions. As some may recall, I was not at all impressed with the idea of the autographs being on a separate plate, not on the model, or at least the model's base. However, since I now have the thing, I thought I might as well display it. This is my original, "unsigned" model.

Pretty cool stuff there! Out of curiousity, in the background (outside) there appears to be a figure. Is that a statue or a lawn orniment? If so, of whom or of what?

feet tall.

JB,
If you're running short on space, I'll take that extra Enterprise off your
hands. Plus, it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep them in separate places in
case something happened. Just trying to help............
