Question for all the Star Trek toy collectors out there. Are the current batch of Art Asylum ships better than the old Playmates toys from the 90's as far as sculpting, details, etc.?

J.B., I have a question for you!
You frequently mention the phrase 'delivery' or 'arrivals'.
Do you order like, everything online?
I can't really picture you scouring the toy aisles at the
local Toys R us, but don't you go shopping for this stuff at all? (Thrill of the hunt and all that)
Do you even go to a 'Local Comic Shop'?

Yes, by a wide margin. I have them all, and the new Art Asylum ships are the second best in my collection. For the TV series Enterprise (it's sad that I now have to specify which one: I mean the NCC-1701) I'd order them as The Master Replica, Art Asylum, the recent Polar Lights version, Franklin Mint, and then the Playmates Version. For the Movie versions NCC-1701A, I'd rate them as the Bandai, the Art Asylum, the large Polar Lights (depending on your model making skills), and then Playmates.

Hey John, Have you ever seen the Medicom figures from Japan? They do mostly Anime, and Japanese live action heroes, but they do have some American Licenses like Batman Begins, and Cyclops and Wolverine.
The figures are fantastic, and miles above some of the stuff offered here.

Well, the Cyclops is the "belts and pouches" version, so you may not like that one, but the detail, and craftsmanship in these beats the hell out of the 13" DCD stuff.

Interesting -- but the detailing on the Batman figure in that review looks to
be not as good as the 12in DC Direct figure I picked up when the movie
came out.

When well done, cookie jars can be cool. I have a whole bunch, as some of you know. In
fact, one of the weird things about my "new" house was the shelf above the kitchen sink,
in front of the windows, that looks like it was put there just for the cookie jar collection.
Curiously, I have a salt & pepper set some friends picked up for me in Mexico, Batman rising
from what I take to be a sewer opening (tho it looks a bit like a gravestone!) and the Batman
part is a scaled down version of your cookie jar.

I realized that, since it has no base, the 30" Batman could stand flat against the wall, and
thus hide the telephone jack that was formerly not-so-well hidden by the Infantino-
esque statue. So I moved some things around. Here's a full shot of the "Bat-Section" of
my DC shelves.
