I'd take Golden's ass to court if I received a commission like that, and I bet I'd win. No offense, Joe, but "art is subjective," my ass. That was malicious. Anybody can see that.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You may be right but it would hardly be worth the cost in time and Legal fees.

This seems too bad to be true...I would hope the real Golden commission arrives tomorrow, but I kinda doubt it. If not...what a classless act!

My hat's off to Mr. Byrne!  Way to make lemonade out of lemons!

For Gerry, being from Scotland, if he could sue over this across the Atlantic, maybe not. For me...? Oh, it'd be worth it. We're not talking about going up against Walt Disney, here. It's small claims (not that pricey in fees, and I'd sue for those costs, too), and I doubt Golden has a team of lawyers, regardless. I'd do it on principle, no matter what.

Really really sorry to hear about this Gerry, that was a horribly unprofessional act. As for you JB, wow...just wow.  As someone said earlier, I guess there's a reason you were always one of my favourite creators (just fyi, it was always a toss up between you and George Perez at the time I was reading regularly).  And for those wondering about how anyone could possibly put a negative spin on JB's gesture, well obviously that jerk Byrne just said that to make himself look good at another artist's expense!

I don't even see how Golden figured this was worth it. Taking a man's 500 plus bucks and sending him an insult? What's the point?

Plus, 500 smackers? I might maim somebody for that kind of money. Talk about hot.

Reading through the Modern Masters book Golden came off as disinterested in Comic work. He only does it in between Commercial art gigs as far as I can tell. It seems like he disdains the industry and super-heroes in particular.

Why do it then? Just for some quick cash?  Seems unprofessional....or maybe he's just above the whole thing I suppose.
