Damn. I was hoping it was a joke. I am so sorry this happend Mike. And Gerry. And to everyone else this happened to; I suspect the whole "consortium" that stood up to Golden will be seeing the same sort of thing...
I can't help wondering, since Golden was at SDCC last week, if he and Renee are even aware of how much bad press they're getting...

Like others on this board I have no problem calling out Mr. B when I see him saying something that I take issue with.
Of course like the others I want to add my name to all of the people that are saying that it is a truly decent and flat out remarkable thing that you are doing, well above and beyond the call.
On behalf of all of the fans out there who were thinking how bad the industry is going down the crapper, I want to thank you for showing that there are still some good pros left.

I still can't believe JB's policy of "no payment till the work is done" is a notable exception to the way things are generally done in the commission world. Whether it's having a roof put on your house or a piece of fine art done, paying a contractor the full fee before they do the job seems like a recipe for disaster.

What a disappointment! M Golden should not take the money if he can not do the job. Show some pride in your business Michael and offer a refund if the customer is not happy with the art. The whole no-refund thing has a fear aspect to it that says I can not stand behind the job I have done. Very weak to take the money and run or in this case take the money and mock. It would be sad to take someone you thought highly of to court, but if I was in this situation I would demand a refund and if that did not happen it would be litigation time.
JB's response was cool, quite the serendipity for Gerry.

Jason: I also can't believe this is how it's done in the commission world. Sounds like a nice little racket, and it was only a matter of time before one artist started abusing the system. Hopefully this pre-pay thing will go away among commission artists, and they'll all start doing it the RIGHT way.
Or maybe, like Fox does with Simpsons commissions, Marvel and DC should start cracking down. It'd be no one's fault but Golden for ruining it for everyone.
