Nice blog entry, Zaki.  I doubt we'll be seeing four replacement Captains American showing up, but the media response is extremely similar.

Can I expect you to shut up and not mockingly probe old wounds of mine?

******

Greg, I mockingly probe with love.

That settles it. I want to see Captain America in hooker-ware, and Quesada in a feathered pimp-hat.

Anyone here care to draw a pinup of that lovely mental image?

Appropriately, with Cap's death, the last vestige of anything pure or decent about Marvel dies with him.

I don't care what the "point" is, I don't care if it's just a stunt that will be reversed, I don't care if the story is "good" or "well-written".

****

this isn't the first time captain america has died, or so we thought. steranko did it for instance

you don't care if stories are well-written? that's quite important to me, and these are among the best captain america stories ever. i personally feel they are the very best

Didn't say that. I just don't think a "well-written" story is an adequate shield for terrible/insulting ideas.

After all, if a story where Cap is sodomized and forced to eat kittens is "well-written", does that mean it is good and/or appropriate?

Well...on the negative side they just killed Captain America. On the positive side they didn't not publish a story about him for years and THEN suddenly bring him back as a crack whore with aids before killing him. So he was actually treated with more respect than Karen Page. I guess at least now there isn't much more that they can do to screw him up*.

Say! Maybe he could become the next incarnation of the Living Tribunal...

*No word yet on whether he'll be retrocatively shown to have had sex with Norman Osborne. ( Or maybe it'll turn out that Norman had sex with a Space Phantom/Life Model Decoy )

In other news Iron man's new personal heli-carrier is pretty hideous.

^^***** Comics! I read them out of a sense of morbid fascination!

Is it really that much of an 'old wound' if you link your crazy-festo in your signature?
