I think we can all agree on this.
Of course, it does not have to be so; there is a solution: courtesy.

I read about this earlier from CNN. I'd have rather learned about it by reading the book, though, which is in stores today. The CNN article did have spoilers but I figured they were about the events of Civil War and not about what's happened since then. The news will be everywhere soon but I don't think it would hurt to edit the thread title to remove the "death" part in case someone hasn't stumbled across the news yet and plans to read the book soon.

Would your enjoyment of Alpha Flight #12 have been diminished if you knew in advance that Guardian dies?
****
Yes.
It would have been just as easy to not name the thread the Death of Captain America (the first thread, which was shit down because it was moved here did not give away the spoiler in the title and had a nice spoiler warning in the posting). Before today, it was not known of Cap's death. It was wrong to post it as a thread title.
Come on, Matt. That is stretching it a bit. "It might be the ACTUAL death of CAp. I better not open the thread.." That one doesn't work.

Seems like it's rather silly to bitch and complain about "SPOILERS" in
this particular case. It's all over the media, and it's obviously meant
to be talked about by people who haven't paid attention to Cap in 60
years. Hell, I heard about it for the first time on Howard this
morning, which is a very surreal venue from which to get one's comic
book news!

Matt-
I'm going to throw the BS flag on that one.
I've seen enough thread deletions on this forum to know that the ones
that were locked could have easily been removed, and the title of this
thread easily fixed to not be so spoiler-ific.
Captain America # 25 Spoilers!
Blah blah blah though, your house, your rules.

Maybe not, but the locked 'Captain America dies...' thread title in
conjunction with the above gives the game away.

Again, I learned of this here, not another website, not on the radio or TV. Just because I probably would have found out elsewhere today, doesn't make it right. Let me be PO'ed at Yahoo or CNN, not someone here. Please change the title and put a spoiler warning up.

An analogy to AF #12 would apply only if Marvel were spoiling the ending on the news at the time.

Wait - I just picked up this old comic called Amazing Fantasy #15. I hope no one tells me how it ends....
Clearly, Marvel is doing everything it can to get the word out in the mainstream press. As others have said, the death of Cap is the draw here. It's not meant to be a surprise.

Sure it does. We've had threads with the same kind of title here before. The only reason people are getting upset about this is because there is one other thread with the actual spoiler in the title, which I will delete now, and/or people are finding out about it through other venues and bitching about it here. In other words, I agree with Darragh and will rectify that now.

Perhaps G N' R should update their lyrics to say:
Captain America was shot in the head
Now he's a court jester who wound up dead...
