And this is in no way an endorsement of Civil War, which is one of the most God-awful stories I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

Bob Simko: "time to just let Galactus win."

You know what? When someone posted the illuminati/Galactus page in another thread this was exactly my thoughts: "I hope Galactus wins this time.".

I do not need to wait for the story to know that it is a violation of the character and everything I love about him.

I vote for the death being faked by the Punisher, and Steve Rogers becoming the new "Ronin" in New Avengers. The TPB with the Nomad storyline was released recently. I will groan if Frank Castle puts on the Captain America costume though.

It's amazing to me how much information that you can get about comics that you don't even purchase these days.

I'm really not buying any new comics at the moment, but with the many outlets for news, spoilers and reviews, it is fairly easy to stay "in touch" with old tramping grounds like the Marvel Universe.

Cap's fate in issue # 25, well of course, I don't like it.  But .....

(Potential spoilers) ...

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Gimmicks have come and gone umpteen times before this one, and there are at least a couple of possibilities to consider before flying off the handle due to this turn of events.

Frank Castle was shown picking up Cap's discarded mask, after he surrendered to authorities as Steve Rogers, at the conclusion of Civil War.

Frank Castle also routinely wields a rifle.  I suspect that at least one possibility could be drawn here, and I don't at all mean that the Punisher may have taken a bead on the living legend of WWII (other than for ulterior motives)...such as springing the hero from the pokey.

Just one theory to be considered.

This chain of events could also potentially reveal the identity of the "new" Ronin over in Cap's former team book, New Avengers.  I say either him or Nick Fury.

And I ain't laying good odds on that other eyepatch-wearing WWII vet actually wearing tights in a super team.

Just another theory to be ruminated on before launching a crusade against something that is ultimately nothing but, yeah you guessed it, a short term GIMMICK.

The new Ronin's identity has yet to be officially revealed.  The first one was Echo, who was some lady from Daredevil that made the identity revelation anti-climatic because few cared about Echo.

 QUOTE:
1.  Why wasn't THIS the ending of Civil War?  Wouldn't a big deal like this have obviously been a better and more emotionally satisfying ending?

Honestly, the one thing that redeemed Civil War #7 for me is that they didn't let Millar kill off Cap (not that he asked to).  If they're going to do it, at least let someone who mostly "gets" the character to do it.

Aw crap, just when I was beginning to enjoy the way they were dragging Cap through the mud.

RONIN: I read in a thread at newsarama that........................................................ ............................................................ ..................

.

.

................spoiler: He said "Yo" to Luke Cage and when Echo asked "Matt" he answered "not exactly" and showed a "B" on his shoulder or arm. something like that.
