I'd like to think so too but I doubt it.

John, Jon & Chris:

Don't forget the Space Pirates! We can still make fun of the Space Pirates,
can't we?

"Space Pirates?"

"You know -- Pirates, but in space!"

According to a recent study, St. Louis is the most dangerous city in the US.

"Our attitude then was it had to be 'business as
normal" otherwise in effect the terrorists had won."

Fuckin' right. That's how you fight terrorism: by
not being terrorized.

Blair & Co's focus-group, knee-jerk policy-making is
precisely the wrong way to respond to this. For
Christ's sake, the IRA very nearly blew up the entire
fucking government
at the Grand Hotel in Brighton,
and we didn't see a legislative reaction like the one
we're enduring at the moment.

It's pathetic. This is how you respond terrorism,
you say:

"Fuck you. Nothing you can do will make one iota of
difference to our daily lives. Nothing you can do will
change the fabric of our society. Nothing you can do
will stop us from doing exactly what we did
yesterday, and the day before, and the day before
that.

"Nothing is going to change, regardless of how
much shit you blow up, regardless of how many
people you kill. You may as well stop now."

OK ... with the IRA, it took thirty years, some horribly
wrong turns (internment, anyone?), 3000 dead, and
the result is not the ideal ... but it's better than what
went before.

Cheers!

Jim
