Kinda hate to get on the nit-pick horse, but those were one-shots, Jacob.  Marvel did, past tense, publish some monster one-shot books over the summer.  That's hardly the same thing as DRACULA, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, FRANKENSTEIN, etc. that they published in the 70s or the monster books of the 50s.  I take it by the way David wrote his post, he was meaning more than one-shots and meant publishing them on a regular basis.

I guess if you live in Compton or Detroit, bullets probably jumps to number one or number two. But I don't really have that problem (yet).

**************

I live outside of Detroit and have worked in the city of Detroit.  I have never heard a gunshot.  Crime is high because of a lack of police and the constant cuts made to city employees means nobody wants to work for the city.  Detroit isn't the wild west.

End of Rant

Don't worry, John.  Chad is in the habit of making blanket statements about a lot of things, many of which he has absolutely no idea about.  Often, it's just to get a rise out of people.  Sometimes, it's just to sound "crusty".  I just think of him as Abe Simpson, ignore it, and move on.

Edited to change "Chuck" to "Chad"~Matt

I was also able to survive the mean streets of the greater Metro Detroit area for the first 25 years of my life. I must have been unknowingly dodging invisible, soundless bullets.

Who the hell is "Chuck"?  Did you mean to refer to Chad Carter, Matt?

As long as we're debunking bad city reps, let me throw in that I've worked in Newark, NJ, for more than 25 years.  I ride the "mean streets" in a marked vehicle with lights and sirens, and I carry no weapon. I've never been bothered by any of the local folks, and I look nothing like the majority of the population. Give respect, you get respect, or at least, tolerance.

And who the hell are we kidding anyway. Phrases like "mean streets" really means Black people, and that's just thinly disguised racism.

*******
I did indeed. Thanks, Matt.

*******
Seriously, a google search would have confirmed that Marvel is publishing monster comics, because that is literally the name of the book (which is a collection of random assorted monster comics Marvel has been publishing).
Now the question becomes more relevant, how could you have missed that?

*******
Perhaps because I didn't?
I would have thought it fairly clear that here I was referring to ongoing, regular series and not one-shots or TPBs containing collections of "random, assorted monster comics" (and, for the record, I own both the book you were referring to as well as Marvel Monsterworks).
Nice try, though.

Yes, Frank.  I meant to write Chad.

Okay, maybe I should change "bullets" to NBA basketball players for the Detroit contingent.

<PS -The big type is because your eyes are shot at your age>

No, all that is cute, but the font size and colors are annoying and unnecessary.  As it the fact that  "our eyes are shot at our age". THAT is annoying and offensive.

You said:

"Seriously? they (specifically Marvel as mentioned in my post) still publish
"monster" comics? how could I have missed this?"

You did not specify ongoing series, and I responded to what you said.
